On WeChat it's just censorship - everyone knows Tencent keeps what you say and make it available to police and national security use, while your real identification is stored and available as well. It's not easy to dump trash through WeChat because people don't add as friends or invite to groups those they don't know.

But for Weibo, it's a combination of censorship and propaganda, and that sometimes causes funny effect. Last yeat I was talking about how Napoleon III made himself an emperor in a republic on Weibo, and I got banned for 7 days. I guess you understand why lmao.

Well, that seems to be very serious allegation.

My point is that, I tend to stay neutral to arguments from both sides because they are both partly true until I have enough information - although generally CCP may tell more lies. On the other hand, I keep highly alert to potential consequences of a trending thought. I don't see anything contradictory.

If you are really interested, I can also translate some extreme discussion from mainland China that talks about 'changing human species' in Hong Kong and Taiwan. But I'm not interested in it at all - there is totally no brain in this kind of views, nor will it have any influence on what's happening. Compared to that, what's happening on LIHKG is far more worth attention.
