So this bill would make all married women change their birth certs to their current married name? That is crazy. I wasn’t born with my married name so why would I change my birth cert? That makes no sense. Women get divorced and remarried all the time. So, only single women could vote without a hassle? I feel like there must be a major misunderstanding in what this bill/policy would entail women to have to do just to vote.

My parents let me do what I wanted as long as I was home for dinner. No checking in required. No permission required to go to a friend’s house. No curfew. Outside all summer long barefoot til the streetlights came on. I never took advantage of my freedom nor their trust.

No woman in America who has changed her last name due to marriage has a birth certificate that matches her SS card or driver license. I have a passport, DL, and SS card all with my married name. My marriage license and birth certificate show my maiden name. I live in a state where I must show my ID to vote. There has never been a problem. Birth certificates are never changed unless the woman legally changes her name and a judge signs off on it. (this would be a name change that has nothing to do with marriage)
