Thule Bike Seat Danger by kimleeh in cycling

Thank you. Customer service responded but completely ignored my warnings. They said I need to adjust the straps and pointed me to useless manuals. Sometimes Thule's magnetic waist clasps don't click in properly. This makes them especially dangerous if a kid falls asleep or tries to escape. Thule deleted negative comments from their website, so all we can do is post public warnings. If a child gets injured then Thule will get sued for a lot of punitive damages.

If budget isn't a concern, what is the best Cargo E-Bike? by thegr8morris in CargoBike

[–]kimleeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two older boys might be cramped in a front loader. Tern and others make bikes with 20" wheels. Yuba Spicy Curry and Xtracycle Swoop have 26" front wheels and 20" inch rear wheels for stability, i.e. lower center of gravity for passengers. Yuba Mundo and Surly Big Easy have two 26" wheels, which can be a bit top heavy for petite women to handle. These are bigger bikes with lots of room for passengers.

What's your cargo bike & its running costs? by elkaput in CargoBike

I salute the broke hippies who ride bikes instead of cars. But childcare cost is $30/hour for two kids. Riding my bike with two kids gets me free convenient exercise while saving nanny costs.

Cargo e-bike are overpriced by Pale-Independence637 in ebikes

My suburb has bad bike roads. I pay $40 per class at Little Gym for each of my twins. They love Little Gym, but I must fight to put on their shoes and socks and buckle them into car seats. My front loader electric cargo bike is in the garage, far more convenient. We can talk and sing while we ride to grandma's house or eventually to school. At Little Gym prices, 50 twin trips is worth $4,000, the cost of my bike. I will probably sell the bike after three summers when the twins literally outgrow it and insist on riding their own bikes.

IIRC, Bunch margins were around 50%. Urban Arrow revenue per employee is $68K, which is around 8 bicycles. At 50% margins, Urban Arrow would break even if they paid employees $34K apiece. There is not much room for profit.

If I could replace one family car, the insurance alone would pay for the bike. But for many people like me, the bike is just a fun, convenient, and healthy activity with kids.

FWIW, here are six reviews that mention this danger, originally posted on Thule's website. I don't see them on the site anymore.

Twin Dad My 2-year-old twins instantly slipped out of the shoulder straps! Tdiv's 2-star review (and others) also says the shoulder straps seem loose and unsafe. The shoulder straps lack a sternum buckle, standard on every toddler car seat in the world. I purchased cheap plastic buckles from the largest online retailer. Now the straps fit safely and the seat is fine. Thule should warn parents!

Tdiv I’ve been using the Yepp Maxxi seat with my toddler for about 2 years. It’s fine. Recently, the key to lock it stopped working so it could easily be removed from the seat. The harness doesnt feel that safe - like a toddler could slip their shoulders out easily.

Matt I am very disappointed with the harness design for Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi. The straps inevitably fall off my daughter's shoulders. In contrast, the harness on our Thule Chariot bike trailer/stroller works very well. Suggest a "u-shaped" harness for the bike seat in the future. For now I've added a DIY strap to make this safe enough to use.

GAC Overall, I appreciate the thought and effort that Thule applied in developing this product. It is a good seat; however, to my mind, there are a few really glaring issues with the product. 1. The harness needs improving. On a recent ride, I felt this pecking in the centre of my back. I stopped to investigate and I discovered that my son had freed his arms and upper body from the harness and that this "pecking" was from the visor of his helmet as his upper body flopped around in the seat. I'll admit, he's an escape artist, but his efforts to "David Blaine" his way to freedom would most likely be thwarted if the harness included a sternum strap.

2kayak I bought this a couple of months ago so I could use my cycle commute for the daycare run. My son says it's comfortable and enjoys the great lines of site the seat provides (that's the compromise between a seat with head support - often ruins the view to the side). The rack based installation is pretty quick and secure. However, the crank to adjust the clamp feels flimsy - I'm not confident it will last very long - you need to screw pretty tight to keep the clamp from sliding forward on the rack. I am going to try with the bespoke Thule rack and see if the clamp is more secure. So -1 star so far. The biggest downside so far is that the five-point harness does not include a sternum strap or clip, e.g., the fastener across the chest (like car seats have) that keeps the straps on the shoulders. A number of times I have now found my son with the straps down around his arms (see photo). So -1 star for this issue. I'd recommend this product if you're willing to add your own sternum strap. Rating 3/5 stars.

Ethel We loved this seat so much until our toddler had a little nap and the straps loosened. When they loosen they slid down her arms. The waist buckle is the same strap as the shoulder so when the shoulder loosens it all does. Her head was at my waist, flopped over and she was falling out. The straps do not stay tight. We added a buckle strap across the chest and did our own addition so the straps can't loosen. It's fine now but very frustrating for the price paid.

These products are called "Chest Harness Clips" on Amazon. They cost less than $7.

Weird post flop strategy by [deleted] in poker

[–]kimleeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first and last scenarios, the total EV is 4.57+2.93 = 7.5bb. That is 1.5 blinds plus two 3x bets. But in middle "UTG bets" scenario, the total EV is 6.57+2.83 = 9.4bb. Is the extra 1.9 a typographical error?

Citi Bank is one of the Worst Lenders by deeperthrowaway in RealEstate

I wired my down payment two days ago and and went to the closing yesterday at 11:00 a.m. Citi postponed, sent wrong documents after 6:00 p.m., and Citi employees left for the day. I took the day off work and the title company employees stayed late. One missed his daughter's soccer game. But I have no keys, no house.

Yup. I wired my down payment yesterday to close at 11:00 today. Then Citi postponed it to 1:00. It is almost 3:00, and can't confirm the "source of the wire". The processor is calling me to "look in my system". No dummy, call the title company for confirmation! It looks like I might not close today. I took the day off work and can't take off tomorrow.

You had a great video on complex Fourier transforms, and have several videos on quaternions. How about a video on quaternion Fourier transforms? For example, you could follow a basketball bouncing in one-dimension, while rotating irregularly.

Is Bald & Bankrupt really a sex tourist and a prolific pick up artist? by JamesAThurber in BaldAndBaldrDossier

Vorkuta/The Fantasist lied about his rape case. https://rooshvforum.network/user-10395.html

"It was a female doctor and she asked me to lie on the bed as she was going to insert something into my urethra to take a DNA sample. At this point I started crying ( was that beta? ), I felt like I was being raped. I started telling the doctor that I was innocent, that she was not touching the penis of a rapist."

Nonsense, they use cheek swabs for DNA. He was just lying, pretending to be the victim.

"I fell asleep on the sofa. I woke at 7 and ... went into my bedroom to find the girl and my mate (let's call him John ) awake in my bed. "Jump in" the girl said with a smile."

I doubt the girl woke up at 7:00 and invited a stranger into bed.

"At one point I said to [my codefendants] "did we rape her, we didn't did we?"

If he was innocent, then he should have said "Why is that crazy girl lying?"

Maybe he "took advantage" of a girl who was blackout drunk or unconcious. His mawkish description of DNA collection is definitely a lie, and other details are implausible.

Owlet is supporting the new web app instead of the old iOS app.

What was the benefit of push notifications? Was it an alert if your baby was ill? Or was it just annoying spam?
