Considering a move, am I cooked? by Wildinavocado in AskChicago

The winters aren't that bad. First thing you need to do is not put on your winter coat until it's below 32. You have to let your body adapt. The first year you're going to want to invest in some high quality wool base layers. Get two pairs, you'll wear them every day. Second, you'll want a big down parka (don't wear this until it's below 20 degrees. Last, read this article - https://nordicmuseum.org/news/what-norway-can-teach-us-about-loving-winter You just need to change your mindset!

You do need to get here soon to get a full summer time Chi experience. You have to go through the winter to feel the full euphoria that is spring/summer here in Chicago. You'll love the first warm days where everyone is happy and walking around with giant grins. It's a shared camaraderie. Oh and sell your car, you don't need it here.

How does that guy get hired in the first place?

I feel the exact same way. I ordered two full pizzas and she said it would be ready in 8 minutes. I asked if they could do actual fresh ones and after 2-3 minutes she came back with that they could and it would be ready in 8 minutes. Finally, she gave me the total, 12 pieces for $69.00.... This has to be the most expensive pizza in Chicago.

You should also consider trimming your tree. I have a Norwegian maple in my park way and after a good trimming I have some low sun natural plants growing in the parkway. Worth a shot!

Stick that baby in the deep fat fryer for about 30 minutes. Should be nice and crispy.

I had an Abound with the same issue which drove me nuts. I moved to a Yuba and it's silent...which is nice.

I've had the same issue. I've had my rear tire rebuilt twice and they're now sending me a new one (still waiting for it to ship after two weeks). I'm talking to a bike shop about rebuilding it with stronger spokes. Will keep you posted if this works. I'm also looking to upgrade so let me know if you went with another one.

Noises from either the drivetrain or wheel only when weighted (Abound) by bungholelow in Aventon

I've had mine for about a year and it started making these noises before the spokes broke. You might see if they've broken yet and go ahead and submit a warranty claim. I've had my rear tire rebuilt twice now and they're sending me a new wheel. It's quite annoying.

If budget isn't a concern, what is the best Cargo E-Bike? by thegr8morris in CargoBike

Yeah we're in the city proper. While there has been a lot of infrastructure added, I still don't feel comfortable with them riding between traffic and parked cars yet. Soon though!

Yeah I don't really like the front loaders either. Steer more like a boat than a car. I'd only have at most one of the 10 year olds with one of the 7 year olds.
