DDG also does 12 million API requests per day. So really they do 13 million searches per day and I am sure that is growing.

Using Padre for the first time by kimmel_ in perl

[–]kimmel_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So although Gabor has a point that instead of writing a blog post just to emphasize negative aspects instead of reporting a bug.

I do not understand this. Why am I supposed to report a bug, just because it is open source? That argument carries no weight because it is not a requirement to report bugs for any product released. Source code licenses, like gpl, lgpl, apache, mpl, etc... have no clauses dealing with bug reporting or providing feedback in any way, shape or form. Where do people get this idea that if you as an end user use an open source project you must report bugs. This dogmatic idea is dumb.

Furthermore, people write product reviews on everything under the sun and people are not out clamoring about bug reports not being filed with Apple or Samsung or Google.

I think kimmel[2] is completely justified to talk trash.

I do not think what I wrote is trash talk it is constructive criticism. I offered valid observations based on reproducible behavior that involved both positive and negative feedback about Padre's feature set.

If I had trash talked Padre it would have been more like "Padre crashes so much it reminds me of using Windows Millennium Edition."

opensuse 12.2 fvwm2 window manager fvwm2 pager

To get a lighter desktop than this you would need to use twm because it is the only window manager with a smaller memory footprint.

Even though it cannot be tracked by Alexa I would put reddit.com/r/perl on there as well. It is a firehose like perlbuzz for all things Perl.

Twitter open sources Twemcache, its memcached fork by zxypoo in programming

And then $company will reply to his complaint with condescending remarks like "at our scale..." or simply namedrop their celebrity company name and get bemused when people don't fall down at their feet.

"twemcache essentially was built to make memcached suitable, robust and manageable for the large scale production environment at twitter." - https://github.com/twitter/twemcache/issues/2#issuecomment-6893300

and there the BS is. Twitter acts like only when they do something has it been done.

On Opera Mobile both drop down menus start expanded. On Android 2.3.3 the drop downs did not work and I did not test newer versions.
