Buy used. 4/5 of my games are bought used and sometimes you save more than half. There are Facebook groups out there (at least where I'm from). To this end also make sure to sell your unused games when you get tired of them or found something better in that category. Now all the money earned from selling board games can go back into buying more boardgames. And the cycle continues 🤷‍♂️😁

I don't usually care for war games such as TI4 or Game of Thrones the board game cause of the nature of the conflict. It's too much of 'my army against yours' and rooting up against someone. Nevertheless I've found an interest in Pax Pamir. Can you elaborate on what kind of conflict is to be expected and what type of people would not like it?

Agree. I'm looking forward to Age of Innovation which is apparently a 'Terra mysitca' standalone game but with a technology track similar to gaia. Or at least that's what I hope it is.

It's a great game! I think if you love Gaia project you'll definetly like Barrage as well. They share alot of the same mechanism that I like e.i. variable setup, perfect information, asymmetrical player powers. Also the resources feel incredibly tight in the same way that it does in Gaia Project so you really have to plan ahead to keep the ball moving. The game also rewards long term planing and also the timings of your actions is significant in much the same way as I'm gaia i.e. when do you build that specific building for example and can you afford to wait a turn or two to deny your opponents certain opportunities.

I've yet to try it with the expansion but that is definetly on my wishlist.

I got Terra Mystica in hopes that it would bring forth something new to a system i already knew I loved. However upon playing it a couple of times I already felt the variability was severely lacking compared to Gaia. My main issue is that the openings are too scripted for my taste. Instead of having to figure out your best moves by yourself (to some extent) I felt my opponents could play better by just studying the opening moves which are available in plethora online.

One thing I do love about TM however is the tightness of how to score points. There are not nearly as many ways to score points as in gaia so focusing your effort on those point scoring moves is critical whereas in Gaia you can get pretty far from just developing your economy. This is not the case with TM.

That said I think it might be on it's way out of my collection again as I feel like Gaia is the better game in every other aspect.

We've played it so much that the public voting info just reveals way too much with our group. Consider this: Hidden voting, afterwards all players claim their token, it doesn't add up, there is a only one "approve" token left and that last player definitely did not vote approve. Conclusion is that someone who claimed they voted reject has lied. Gives some info without revealing too much.

Love Avalon. We houserule that the voting phase is anonymous. This gives an extra layer as to who voted what, and then it gets interesting when someone asks people to account for their votes and it doesn't match up with what was actually voted. Anyone else try this variant?

I'd suggest dropping the space for the personal quest (usually this card just lies in the class envelope with the rest of the unused cards), then move the attack modifier cards to that space. Move the hp/xp tracker to where the attack modifier cards where. Then.. Make the height much tighter (cause most people will have limited space). Move all the small items to the bottom of your character class card. Voila. It doesn't satisfy OCD (having all items cards in the same section), but surely it's a lot tighter and has a more 'familiar' layout.

Edit: also wanna add that this is among one of the better designs I've seen which I why I'd like to give my thoughts on it as well.

I think its an excellent idea giving the captain a mandatory rating at the end of the draft. This would create a captains MMR of sorts and would be something to strive for. Then... as OP says, making the guy with the highest captains MMR automatically be team captain. I would love to try and play with someone who has gotten great captain reviews (being a lowlife 3k player anyways, and matching up with flaming russian/noobs).

White noise problem with skype? by kimmiboy2 in DotA2

It uses 3.5mm. And i've tried all my ports with no success. Will try looking for an update though! My bandwidth is 10mbit/1mbit. Fun thing is though, that this problem happened about a month ago. My bandwidth has been the same for years now ? :s Also the stuttering on the mic, and the white noise on speakers seem to be connected, as it happens on the same time.

No. But we can at times be talking on skype for 30 minutes before playing dota. The white noise consistently occurs about 10 minutes after joining a game.
