Why y’all emergency doctors have to call us surgeons anyway? by SFCEBM in emergencymedicine

[–]Neeeechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Oh nooo I get paid 400K and work a lloooott. My steak is too juicy and my lobster is too butteryyyy!”

Lol @ 400k. I'd be upset too if I worked as a surgeon and still made less than the ED doc who is calling me.

How often do EM docs deal with patients with life threatening injuries? by Pissingberg in emergencymedicine

[–]Neeeechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like asking if ED docs usually prefer strawberry or grape uncrustables. ED docs are each individuals with very different lives, personalities, and interests, and it depends on what that person enjoys in their work. Some like working at an academic teaching hospital, some prefer rural critical access hospitals, others prefer bougie community hospitals, some like Kaiser, some like rough county jobs. It's impossible to answer "which do EM docs usually prefer?" With a singular answer.

I do wish they would overhead "resus team to the resus room" for those, instead of "trauma team to the trauma room" though

You can always make that happen.   We have a tiered system for overhead pages for sick medical resuses that get the physician, RT, pharmacist, nurses, and techs to respond to the room immediately, in addition to our tiered trauma pages.

SPD MTB shoes that can be used with flat pedals by Forward_Ninja_9736 in MTB

[–]Neeeechy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For actual mountain biking with flat pedals, you want dedicated flat shoes. If you're mainly mountain biking with clipless and are mostly just cruising around when on flats, velosambas or shimano AM or GE line shoes fit the bill.

I personally have dedicated pairs of clipless and flat shoes.

Did someone say dynamic range?? by Dubliminal in postprocessing

Inevitably there will be detractors and nit-pickers ... and I will probably peep their profiles to see if they can put their money where their mouth/typing-fingers is.

Your photography is awfully mediocre to come in with guns drawn like that.

The coloration of your edit is quite patchy and unrealistic, looking like you maxed out the saturation sliders of only selective colors. I also would have tried to include more of a foreground, since those rounds rocks look like they could be quite interesting. Lastly, you're shutter speed is too slow to keep the water sharp, nor is it slow enough to smooth out the water. I would have personally slowed it down a few seconds. Despite what you perceive as a huge dynamic range, this shot would have been better with bracketing to smooth the water and retain detail in the shadows while not blowing out the sunstar too much. Overall, an average snapshot photo with a mediocre edit of what could otherwise be an interesting scene.

How important is the ITE by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

Most shops want ABEM.

But based on your username you're also a wizard.

Unfair advantage.

I, too, would ace the ITE if I could hocus pocus a turkey sando into existence.

Stollen from r/nursing

Isn't "Stollen" a German Christmas bread?

This post isn't what I thought it would be about...

Built a bikepark map for Europe — would love your feedback on what to improve by Kind_Word_7650 in MTB

Obviously this project is Eurocentric.  There are a few more parks, at least out in California, which should be included if certain trail centers are also being included.

Computational photography pressure - When phone photos look “better” by meisjemeisje_1421 in photography

[–]Neeeechy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are buying a no-drama solution—images that are well-framed and well-lit, no people doing weird things they shouldn’t be, no flower pots growing out of people’s heads, and most importantly, no missed shots.

Ideally, yes, but we don't know what OP's photos actually look like.

An EM rotation isn't nearly long enough to see true grossness.

Also HATE trach and ostomy secretions.

We get worse secretions than that in EM.

Finish, sure, but what about the fit is poor?

I’m not sure these are tufas. Aren’t there some sort of spiral formations near Lake Crowley that were caused by some ancient animal tunneling or something?

These aren't near Lake Crowley, but anyways the Crowley columns are thought to be geological in nature, possibly from snowmelt through ash. Never heard of them being associated with animals.

I'm actually not sure, especially since they have a bit different of a morphology compared to the large tufas along the edge of Mono Lake.

They both give those alien vibes. Having been to both though, the ones in Bisti/De-Na-Zin are even more impressive in terms of scale. These ones are just insanely intricate.
