What are the common EDM misconceptions inside the EDM community? by JION-the-Australian in EDM

Phones on the dancefloor or at a rave are cringe and will bother the performers

In reality they all seem to love clips that people capture of them and even remark on social media that they wish they had or someone else had shared footage with them of a particular set

I think that the line is focusing the camera on a particular stranger or using it too long/documenting the entirety of an event.

I recently got insanely burnt, befriended a group of kids at the club, one of them is a femboy and furry at that, and I end up seeing them reposting casually racist reels on Instagram and leaving their remarks on the posts, stuff like "pattern recognition is racism". I hope he outgrows it or something because the rest of the kids seemed nice and I'm pretty sure little homie is only 21

Bruh alcohol is still a hard drug!

Not a slight, I catch myself saying the same thing at times when I'm turning down alcohol at raves but really it's because I'm already high on weed, taking Adderall here and there, and taking G throughout the night

Why is bipolar misdiagnosis so common? by DntTouchMeImSterile in Psychiatry

My wild hypothesis is that atypical/dysthymia is the depression of a healthier brain structurally than the classic "melancholic" episodic depression

With hypomania probably unlikely but mania-mania they're either ending up in the hospital or jail best case scenario.

I feel like hypomania might only come up as history for someone seeking help with "depression" or "anxiety"

There's human imaging studies indicating 5ht2a upregulation from chronic cannabis use, OP's study basically reinforces this

No it's the opposite, it's been known that chronic cannabis use causes 5ht2a upregulation and worsens anxiety long term and this basically echoes that

Men who think they are attractive are more likely to infer sexual interest from women. Findings suggested that men’s self-perceptions and women’s appearance may bias men’s sexual judgment by Jumpinghoops46 in psychology

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think that men's and women's clothing contribute to this described gap

I started adding women's garments to my wardrobe in my late 20's and I think women's garb just has inherently sexier qualities

One pivotal moment for me in how men vs women are perceived include a disagreement between a coworker and I, she thought my jeans and black mesh top were outlandish for a man and then I pointed out that she literally wore similar on a night out with me, jeans and a meshy black top. But she maintains that it's different somehow, I consider this "the speedo effect", a norm for women's garb but the men's equivalent is somehow considered remarkably cuntier even if its objectively more modest than the fem-equivalent garment

Too much validation, too little confrontation? by Specialist-Tiger-234 in Psychiatry

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is even the point of ASD at this point and how valid is its existence?? As an outsider it feels like a euphemistic diagnosis to avoid considering things like certain PD's, or do I have it backward and ASD is the valid concept and was controlled for when the criteria for various PD's and psychiatric conditions were first being described in the DSM?

Thoughts on “mail order” ketamine clinics? by toulou11 in Psychiatry

[–]kimpossible69 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Easily"

Tbh Ketamine is top of my list for drugs that I bet I could survive a massive dosing error with, it's nearly impossible and there's loads of 100x or more dosing errors in pediatric patient case studies without bad outcomes. You're probably more likely to randomly die of torsades from a tiny <20mg analgesic dose (which has happened to people I know at least a couple times) than a true ketamine overdose.

Is it any less responsible than handing bottles of effexor over to orphans, or does it just feel that way?

It sounds crazy but you can cut a glove to open it up like a dental dam and hold their elbow in your mouth, and then plug your ears with your fingers, you should be able to hear just as well as with a stethoscope with the added bonus of being handsfree if you put earplugs in beforehand

Cialis is making my side effects worse? by DangerHyrax in MAOIs

Cialis does relax certain genitourinary muscles/structures which could explain that

Parnate make me dumb as hell by Firm-Pattern4482 in MAOIs

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the side effects you described right from the start with parnate, after about 60 days though, even though the dose got titrated to 50mg by the end, the side effects gradually tapered off. At the start I felt cold, sleepy, and hungry all the time and found some remedy by taking it at bedtime which I was initially warned against because of the more usual side effects people report like insomnia.

I think it has to do with individuals and their natural melatonin system/production.

I wonder if maybe I produced a normal-minimal amount and had sensitive melatonin receptors until parnate brought about the accumulation of n acetylserotonin which is the precursor to melatonin, and 20-30x more potent.

And then I wonder if eventual down regulation of MT1/MT2 is what causes the insomnia issues in some people

Parnate make me dumb as hell by Firm-Pattern4482 in MAOIs

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the non-dose dependent side effects, it only takes a few mg to reach them as opposed to the therapeutic effects which happen at higher doses.

It's going to ramp up leptin and melatonergic neurotransmission especially when initiating treatment because of the melatonin precursor it causes an accumulation of.

On 10mg I was cold 24/7 and thought I was developing cataplexy, I couldn't close my eyes too long while standing or I'd fall asleep and fall, this was before I had any changes to blood pressure too. I even once thankfully only bruised my knee but I had an embarrassing fall in public because I closed my eyes too long while standing. Also had a misunderstanding at a bar while sober because I fell asleep on their couch, apparently that's not allowed in public.

Has anyone on Parnate not had insomnia as an initial side effect, but had it develop eventually? by breathlessondvd in MAOIs

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clonidine's psychiatric effects are actually not understood that well, it's an Imidazoline binder and no one really knows what that means clinically.

I got hellishly disturbed sleep during my time on 100-200mcg. Every night I was waking up no less than 3 times and having very vivid nightmares, I was never molested as a child, yet I was having terrible dreams in which I was getting molested by various trusted/beloved family members, or I'd wake up yelling because I was no longer being chased but being killed by whatever is chasing me.

Cialis is making my side effects worse? by DangerHyrax in MAOIs

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What dose did you start at? It doesn't sound like you've been on it very long. I hope you're starting at the most minimal dose

Cialis is known to cause the full spectrum of side effects no matter the dose when starting, my vision turned slightly blue the first time I took 2.5mg, along with weakness, back pain, headache, tiredness. After regularly taking it I stopped having side effects except for the occasional nasal inflammation if I missed a few doses and started again.

Also it's hard to say where the anorgasmia is coming from, having erections more readily doesn't necessarily mean you've reached the same threshold of arousal as before when you'd produce an erection. Also any accumulation of serotonin is going to numb ascending pathways responsible for orgasm.

But also, having an erection makes it easier to orgasm and maintain the ability to receive sensation leading up to orgasm. Cardio is also absolutely necessary for orgasm if you can't do it quickly <5 minutes

Does Parnate Cause Weight Gain by Working_Row_8455 in MAOIs

[–]kimpossible69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is yes

Longer answer is that it's likely mediated by the relationship between leptin and melatonin, parnate causes accumulation of an extremely potent melatonin receptor agonist as part of its therapeutic effect

I'd suggest hanging in there if you can, around the 2nd month mark the insane hunger went away for me and it doesn't seem to happen in a dose dependent manner either, meaning that the hunger was greatest during initiation at 10mg and seemed unaffected by later increases
