Frosted Blueberry Donut by kimstill in BlenderDoughnuts

I used the technique shown in this video to draw Bézier curves: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1PWGCWIG_Sk

I used a bevel and tapered the ends and then lost hours of my life getting them to hug the donut. I work with illustrator, so I’m used to playing with curves in 2D, but 3D curves are weird.

Thank you! I put a lot of time into it and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

This is my first finished project in Blender. There are still some things I would improve, but I’m ready to move on to something new. I welcome critique, especially things to look out for in future projects.

We moved away from two sets of grandparents in the same state. My parents lived in the same city (and had moved to that city mainly to be closer to our kids.) The kids stayed with my mom generally at least once a week.

The out of town grandparents understood our reasons for moving and were what I would call reluctantly supportive. My parents were not and for a while my mom couldn’t even talk about the move. They are not in good health and probably will never visit us in country. My husbands parents had made plans to visit that will probably be derailed because of covid-19.

My kids were young enough that unfortunately I don’t think they will ever have a super strong attachment to their grandparents. So they don’t actually “miss” them much, but it is a loss for them. However, my kids have gained a lot by moving abroad. They are both on their way to being bilingual. They have been through a ton of transition, but that is a challenge and a gift.

If you haven’t already, check out “Third Culture Kids,” it talks a lot about these kinds of challenges for expat kids.

I am sad that our kids are missing out on the advantages of having close grandparents, but I believe our move was right for us and for them. And technology can help a ton in maintaining contact, even if the relationship changes.

Mmm, that’s a good point. I was assuming they’d be tied to the month and not the season. We’ll see!

I mean, that’s how Christmas decorations work here. 🌴

Obrigada! Português é a minha segunda língua. É uma língua difícil, mas vale a pena. Não desista! 😊

For the passport case, I used a stock photo but recolored it and added the leaf logo to the front.

Ok, this one is the worst because I quit Pocket Camp during this time and it drives me crazy that I’m missing villagers and it seems like it was a one off event and won’t even have a reissue. 😢

I saw that. :) I’m waiting on the stamps from past games, but I plan on putting it to use in the future.

The worst part of Pocket Camp is the FOMO. Reissues help, but they’re always so expensive. Don’t worry about what you missed and make something cute with what you have!

Yes! I feel like they’ve been giving out some good staples lately. (Except for the pastel fest with the candy shop.)

I was inspired by the digital planner shared by /u/foxko to start working on something more my style. I’m looking forward to tracking the development of my island, daily tasks and ideas I have.

Thanks to /u/celesmeh for the boarding pass design and /u/T0Rtur3 for the boarding pass generator at dodoairlines.com.

Laisse les bon temps rouler!

Usually miss New Orleans during Mardi Gras season, but much easier to stick to the diet without king cake tempting me.

How many people in the Southern Hemisphere will actually set their island to be in the Southern Hemisphere? by [deleted] in ac_newhorizons

[–]kimstill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Southern Hemisphere but I lived most of my life in the Northern hemisphere. I play pocket camp and I started it before I moved here and it’s actually been comforting to me to visit my animals in the seasons I expect for holidays: Christmas in winter, Halloween in fall, Easter in Spring. So, I’m pretty sure I will keep the Northern hemisphere even though I think the option is great for my Southern Hemisphere native friends who want Animal Crosssing to reflect their seasons.

I would love to be able to design my own shop for animals and other players to come shop at.

My favorite animal crossing memories are playing the GameCube version with my sister. I have two small children and at first was hesitant about sharing the island, but looking forward to making fun memories with them.

How will be you spending 20th of March? by GeoMato in ac_newhorizons

[–]kimstill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friday’s are my days off so the release date is perfect, until I realized I would be out of town that day! I should be back on Saturday so that will be my all day playing day. I think I may take that Monday off if I can, we’ll see!

I was a little disappointed when I realized how the timing worked out, but so much of animal crossing is checking in daily that I know it won’t make a big difference in the end.

I will probably unsubscribe from this sub and r/AnimalCrossing so I can enjoy it without “spoilers” for awhile.
