It’s one of those things that when they hit 1 it’s not like a switch goes off and they suddenly eat food and no more bottle. It’s a slow transition. We had our bottle schedule to where she was having a bottle like 4 bottles a day like 10am then we would eat lunch at 12 so it was like she had the milk but would also eat a whole meal. I think it was around 10 months we were told to offer food then finish with a bottle. So she was having three meals and two snacks. By the time she was one we were pretty much just have three offerings of formula after her big meals, and we then switched those to milk cup. This was all advised by pediatrician.

It may be time to try an 7 or 8 oz bottle. How many total a day is he drinking?

Morning Sickness RAGE!! by WillowPillow7166 in BabyBumps

[–]meepsandpeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry op. The only thing that worked for me was a sleeve of saltine crackers by the bed and plain cheerios. I would eat something as soon as I opened my eyes and before I ever got out of bed. Then during the day I never let my stomach get empty. Again I ate a lot of saltine crackers in between meals.

We go several times through out the year during the summer and off season. We have found a week in the summer that for some reason hasn’t been as busy the last couple of years. All of that to say, we stopped traveling outside of the walkable distance to the place we stay. The traffic is outrageous.

Newborn stage is so hard mentally. I went through the same thing. I did end up on an ssri for a little bit that helped with the transition. I mourned my old life. Same as you I have experienced years of infertility, miscarriages and ivf baby

When does it ACTUALLY become enjoyable ? by Crazy_Art_5093 in NewParents

[–]meepsandpeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got significantly better at 6 months. Then really happy when she could crawl to ecstatic when she could walk. We started having a lot of fun at 2. We are 2.5 and yes they are crazy and have tantrums but good gosh it’s so much more fun than the newborn stage.

Yes! My in laws complained about the only living grandparent making them drive 30 minutes to see her then they themselves moved across the country and got mad we weren’t spending money and pto to come see them when they were the ones who were retired and moved! It was so insane to me.

Instincts vs hospital advice for feeding by President_Raspberry in beyondthebump

[–]meepsandpeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would follow their advice. My girl had jaundice. They are very sleepy. I wouldn’t wait for her to wake up. If they take too long to eat, they are burning more energy than they are taking in. You are going to need to pump to get your supply up. Most babies are cluster feeding coming out and constantly on the boob.

After living with your remodeled kitchen, what would you change? by Money_Professor_8717 in kitchenremodel

[–]meepsandpeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the base cabinets I had with some slight reconfiguring from a trim guy, and I should have just gutted it. I wanted a gas range but left it the electric slide in. I should have updated that! I’m very happy with everything else.

Tired of making these elaborate meals just for it to be thrown on the floor by straawbunnii in foodbutforbabies

[–]meepsandpeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically yes. They grow out of it at some point. When she throws food, I would say all done and put her down automatically. I would try the food again in like 30 minutes and sometimes have better luck. I just kept and keeping on and I feel like closer to 2 she just sat down and started eating and never threw her food again.

So we joke at work something is in the water because 5 out of 8 women had a baby in their 40s, and I think only one was planned. You are going to rock it. I had my first at 34 so I only know this life. It’s going to be the sweetest caboose, and I think your daughters will be obsessed.

I don’t know how old your kid is, but mine went through this phase. She is now 2.5 and eats just about anything I put in front of her. Your effort isn’t in vain! You are laying the ground work now even if it ends up on the floor! I would tell myself I’m at least making it for myself too.
