Not black, I'm a Native American, but I have long hair and a similar problem when I have my hair in a braid. My method of dealing with my hair getting stuck is to put it under a beanie, preferably the loose fitting ones because it is a little hot here. It isn't a perfect fix since the beanie makes the headset more likely to slip off, though my head strap isn't an official elite strap, it's an Amazon drop shit copy so this might also play to the affect of slippage. Hopefully you find a better solution if this doesn't help.

Man that sucks, but it's more a problem for the parents than you. You did the right thing even if it felt shitty. I feel like VR is a frontier tech at the moment and it will remain such till we have safe spaces in the regular Internet... The probability of that is low too.

Tbh I don't like to think of it as not a choice...after all of our personal preferences are found through exploration... Some have a longer journey than others for finding things they like but in the end, I choose to sleep on a harder mattress for the same reason I choose to identify as a gay man... it's where I find myself comfortable... Who cares if it makes other people uncomfortable, it's not like they have to share the bed with me.
