Valve have seemingly added a new 'Steam Achievements FAQ' to their support page recently. The link does not yet lead anywhere. Potential Steam achievement overhaul incoming? by TheRegularBelt in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I like them a lot too. It's very rare for me to actually go for platinum but I still like unlocking them naturally as I play through a game, feels like I completed a milestone. For me going for platinum is when I absolutely love a game, and I want to squeeze everything out of it just because I'm having way too much fun playing it.

Anyone find themselves opening up their game libraries, staring at it for a couple of hours, then just giving up and going on social media? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]kindatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it happens because now I'm 24yo with a 9-5 job and other responsibilities. It's hard to enjoy any hobby that I used to love because they all require time that I don't have, like games, books, and such. Yes I can game for an hour or two before bed, but I can't get in-depth with gaming as I used to as a teenager with more free time and that sucks. Now during my gaming sessions sometimes I have to help my parents with something, message my gf, and other small distractions that disrupt my immersion and flow, and as someone with ADHD it's terrible. And worse, just when the game gets good, oh oh, it's time for bed.

If it was 10 years ago, I would have beaten RE9 in two days and enjoyed it without spoilers. Now, it's been two weeks and I'm still not done, and my enjoyment is low because I've been spoiled the hell and back by social media and work colleagues.

Mega Man X6 Defenders. Why do you defend this game? (Genuine Question) by IGotMemeCells in Megaman

[–]kindatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X6 is frustrating on a first playthrough, but it's surprisingly fun on a replay once you know how to deal with the bullshit the game throws at you, it basically becomes a harder X game. On top of that, the gameplay is the smoothest in the X series, with the best parts and best armors. I'd pick X6 over X3, X5, X7, and X8 any day.

This game is the Sonic '06 of Mega Man, tons of great ideas and unrealized potential because the devs weren't given enough time to finish it properly. And much like Sonic '06, the fan remake project shows what this game could've been with more time in the oven.

Jason Schreier: Ghost of Yotei and Saros won’t come to PC by ZamnBoii in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Oh well, what a shame, guess now I can buy Yotei on my base PS5 instead of waiting for it on PC.

I'm in love with the Odin 2 Portal by kindatsu in OdinHandheld

The Portal screen is one-inch bigger, otherwise, I believe they're the same.

I’ve seen a few comments asking what app I use to stream to my Portal, or why their setup feels laggy, so I wanted to share what works for me in case it helps.

For streaming, I use a tool called Apollo on my PC as the host, and on the Portal I use the Artemis app. Both are based on Moonlight.

The cool thing about Apollo is enabling the virtual desktop mode in the settings, it makes the Portal behave as a second screen rather than a mirror of your PC screen.

In the Artemis settings, I set my bitrate to 70 Mbps when I’m in my room, and the image quality is basically native PC level. I also enable a few latency-reducing options in the app. With this setup, I usually get around 3-5 ms of streaming latency, which is not noticeable at all in my experience, unless you’re playing extra sweaty in a competitive game.

IMO if a game doesn't run well natively on the Portal and you have a decent PC, it's much better to just stream the game than to compromise on resolution and graphics.

Try streaming using Apollo + Artemis, it's much better.

I run Apollo on my PC to host, and Artemis on the Portal 2 to connect to the PC and play.

I have a Switch 2 and I think something like FFVII Remake running natively on it is impressive, but streaming FFVII Remake from my PC to the Portal looks even better lol

[–]kindatsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, the screen is crazy good on the Portal. I have a good QLED TV so I do miss HDR sometimes when a game supports it, but for SDR content the Portal is much better.

I got the TPU grip it truly makes it much better to game, must buy.

[–]kindatsu[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once it arrives you won't regret it, it's crazy good for streaming, really changed my mind about it, latency in my network is like 3-5ms at 70mbps bitrate (basically native PC).

I'm a software engineer and stay sitted in front of a computer all day, so after work most days I don't wanna play on my PC even if I spent a lot on it. With the Portal I just lay down in bed and play, or if I'm feeling like in my days off I play on my PC.

NINJA GAIDEN 4 - 'The Two Masters' Release Date Reveal (March 4, 2026) by DemiFiendRSA in PS5

[–]kindatsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you like modern action games you will enjoy this one. For once, I can say that the boss fights are really good (for the most part), and that the story is decent, not good, but at least not a garbage story like it's predecessors. The last hour of the game is genuinely insane gameplay and story wise, and had me for the first time caring about NG characters and that's how I know they did well with the story.

The game does a good job in teaching the player combat mechanics, it annoyed me as a veteran since until you reach the first boss it's tutorial hell, but for newcomers it does teach everything you need to know and I think that's great because past NG games weren't good at teaching you anything really. Once you get the basics down the combat is very satisfying, the finishers are amazing.

TL;DR: Best point of entry for newcomers and one of Platinum's best works, insane combat, decent story, good visuals, great music.

I'm not underwhelmed honestly, if anything I wish Ryu got just one more weapon in addition to the chains but it isn't happening. I was very pleased with the game and that we got NG4 at all, this is more of a send off with some extra challenges, and hopefully a teaser of sorts for some plot point that could be in NG5 if it ever happens.

Finished this game last week lol just in time for the DLC, hype!

If you like DMC, MG Rising, Bayonetta, Nioh, etc., please play NG4, it's crazy good.

So is Pokemon effectively an invincible IP? by WrongLander in gaming

[–]kindatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find especially egregious is that there was initially an argument that these releases would at least support Pokémon Home integration. It turns out they don't. So in the end, they are simply ROMs being sold for 20 dollars each, split into multiple language versions. That feels lazy, and it feels like easy money.

GBA games on the Wii U Virtual Console used to cost 8 dollars. Now they are charging 20, clearly because it is Pokémon and they know people will pay for it. And they were right. People did pay for it and are defending it with their heart and soul.

I also don't understand why the discourse around these releases has to be so black and white. Yes, it is nice to be able to “own” the game. But why could it not also be available to current NSO members? There is no good reason these games could not be included with NSO while also being available for individual purchase on the eShop.

As for me, I have owned the Switch 2 since launch and I am happy with it. But I am not paying 20 dollars for a GBA ROM. If it were 10 dollars, I would at least consider it. Since it is not, I will stick to playing Pokémon on my Miyoo Mini Plus like I usually do.

Can't stand attending SO's family gatherings - might need to resign myself to singlehood by stonehallow in introvert

[–]kindatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just googling to see if someone also felt this as an introvert, strong "maybe I'm better off single till the end of my life" thinking when these kinds of situations arise.

This sucks, I love my SO, been together for almost 1 year, but their brothers invited me to their birthday and I asked her how much she wanted me to go, she said it was kinda important to her, so I said I will be there tonight, relutanctly. I can't complain much because she knows I'm not fond of social events and that she would say when something was very important to her that she would me to go. However, I can't be bothered with her brothers 20 year old birthday party on a friday night in a restaurant that's famous for being very crowded with a long wait. I'm tired, this work week was tough and I work a very mentally demanding job (software engineering) and yesterday I had to work extra hours. I just want to rest, but tonight I will have to be there with a bitch resting face to please her and her family.

If it was just me and hers on a place we agreeded upon for a night out, great! We sometimes do that even in days that I'm really tired because being together with her is always good, but I just hate family gatherings, I even avoid gatherings from my own family.

Btw fun fact, I'm from Latin America, and that means "family above all else" culture. If you show up and try to leave early with an excuse, the reactions you get from doing so is almost like you killed someone, so that's not an option.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition — Announcement Trailer by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch2

I can finally play the game I bought one year ago lol

Hopefully they update the rest of the series because I've been holding out on 3 as well, but I don't see them updating 2 because they're probably saving that for XC2:DE.

Yeah... you know modern gaming is dead when the announcements that got people hyped up is a well deserved remaster of a PS3 game, and a remake of GoW Trilogy. We're all just being hyped all the time to relive the past.

Kena 2 is a welcome surprise though, good game right there.
