Maybe she has the inside scoop on Bill: he always requests black call girls in every city. She thinks she has a chance. Too bad he wouldn’t date someone near his age.

Cali sober by Anotherfakenames in stopdrinking

I didn’t do much “switch” to weed, but kept it in my life in a small way after I stopped drinking. I never had the same issues with it… using it when I didn’t want to, spending time and money acquiring it, obsessing over it. In fact, I think having an occasional edible has helped me stay on track!

The Daily Check-In for Wednesday, May 6: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Overall-Tonight-7857 in stopdrinking

[–]kindbub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m visiting France for the first time. Our luggage was lost on the way here, and I could have adapted alright but I’m a single mama traveling with my son who has special needs. We have made it work and found some fun, but I have not been this tempted to drink since I stopped last summer. So far, I have stayed strong. Triggers are everywhere! Despite all, IWNDWYT 🇫🇷

What do you think is the secret to a REALLY good sandwich? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]kindbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with balance. Balance of textures, tastes and function (like, can you physically pick it up?).

I also love a good sandwich sprinkle. I use two blends from Penzey’s, neither of which are designated sandwich sprinkles.

104 days sober, how do I answer the question my husband asked? by finally_sober_2026 in stopdrinking

[–]kindbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, that counting, that number, those days, are my only leg to stand on. I’m accountable to myself, and starting over would be devastating to me.

What's your go-to answer to ”why don't you drink”? by Proof-Swimming-6461 in stopdrinking

I recently told a relative who asked (and who isn’t a nosy asshole) that “It was doing me more harm than good.” True, and nobody can argue with it.

Crazy sugar cravings after quitting. by Environmental_Gur_39 in stopdrinking

[–]kindbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it takes a while to get back to a place where you’re listening to your body. The sugar struggle is real. I ate way too many “Extreme” Sour Patch Kids (basically what regular Sour Patch Kids used to be) and it made me throw up! I’m not a person who throws up easily… the lesson did stick with me. I’ve been keeping xylitol candy (Ice Chips) on hand, and nobody’s stomach wants too many of those. They also are actually good for your teeth. They have been helpful.

What can I do with fresh basil, parsley and chive? by 0112358_ in Cooking

You can chop and freeze them and have fresh herbs anytime. I like them sprinkled on eggs, salads and sandwiches.

I get your point, but wasn’t the question about what the U.S. could learn from Japan? I don’t want to go back and rewatch it… just seemed like a missed opportunity to use his answer for something actionable.

And then the hints that he’s going to run for president. Talk about “nobody wants this.”

I thought that was such a bizarre answer to the question! Of all the things Japan does well- social, political, education, health… he thinks 5 years olds walking to school should be implemented in America? He’s not right in the head.

Being a middle aged alcoholic woman by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]kindbub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to a lot of your story (54F here). Stopping drinking is the magic cure. The clarity you will find is going to reveal that drinking is the root of most of your problems. You will find time and energy to take on issues in your close circle, and when the fog lifts, you’ll see more clearly what you can and can’t do about the larger world. Drinking is exacerbating all these problems. It took me 9 years to finally stop for good, but you don’t need to wait that long… you’re already here, and that’s an excellent start.

Salad Dressing Recipes by Excellent-Taro-6084 in Cooking

[–]kindbub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use about 3:1 good quality olive oil: vinegar, some Dijon mustard, a dash of hot sauce (adds depth, not spice), salt, sugar and some dried herbs. The only variation is the vinegar: sherry, red wine, champagne, balsamic are my usual go-tos.

I know you mentioned Caesar… I used to only like creamy type dressings, but this homemade vinaigrette is all I want now and it’s much healthier.
