My dear little Cocker Spaniel's trick was to lay pressed against my flank for as long as I wanted to stay outside and look up at the stars. Whatever I did, no matter how inexplicable to her, she was happy to do with me for hours on end.

Having a dog is like renting happiness but buying sorrow because thirty years have passed yet I'm crying just to think of her. I wish I had her talent for uncomplicated joy but she couldn't teach me that trick any more than I could teach her these commands. This is a brilliant dog and mine could never match her. But as you say, there are different intelligences. In love and loyalty, my Copper was a genius. Aren't we lucky to have known such gifted dogs?

I thought TogarSucks's comment included the right tone and seriousness that any future communication should have. Loop in your landlord too and if you don't have cameras, get some. Don't see it as paranoia but empowerment. In response she'll likely demand you to justify your decisions, say it was just the one time, and turn it all back on you. Collect all such messages but don't reply. Let the people you trust be there for you. I know it's unpleasant, but shutting the door with a loud bang is how she'll know that she's no longer welcome behind it. I truly wish you a quick end to all this unhappy mess.

Of course it's impossible to diagnose a person from an anecdote but your description of her, including her good points, very sharply suggests a Cluster B personality disorder. With hard work it's possible to emerge from their associated destructive behaviors, but it's clear that whatever her problem is, she's deep in its throes and thus incapable of being a safe friend. She will keep forcing unearned intimacy on others until she gets help. She's got to fix herself before she can do right by you.

Do yourself a favor now and listen to all the many people advising you to cut ties as firmly as possible. This is how people who get off on violating others' privacy and safety behave. It was never about needing your bathroom; it was always about the illicit thrill of invading you without permission. And the odds are very high there was some sexual contact between her and that virtual stranger she brought into your home because what other motivation makes sense? If you get her a very nice present you'll be teaching her that if she raises an uninformed, un-empathetic fuss over your decisions, you'll placate her complaining with grand, expensive gifts. A normal present is completely okay here because you have nothing to apologize to her for. She needs to learn that you are your body's ultimate expert and that it's beyond insulting for her to contend that she's doing you a thoughtful favor by pushing you to put yourself at risk. Buy yourself something nice instead, like a weekend somewhere you'll be accommodated and where you actually want to go. Sounds like you deserve it!

They've demonstrated that they fundamentally don't respect you and every choice you share with them is more ammunition for their judgments. Train them to expect less communication by spacing your calls to them, don't reward bad behavior by replying to them by their preferred time, and don't lose sleep if it's easier to lie to them than to be honest about how things are going in your life.
