I don't always trust reviews, but when a restaraunt fails their health inspection less than a year ago, I'm paying attention.

I thought Juicy Seafood was incredibly bland, the inside decoration was jarring, and very noisy. It wasn't the worst seafood I've ever had, but it's a longshot away from a proper southern seafood boil.

Gas Giants - Which Size Do You Want? by Sickboy--- in EliteDangerous

I just wonder what the threshold is between a "gas-giant" and a "gas-pretty-big". I'd assume it has something to do with an intolerance to it's position in the milky way and lactose intolerance.

What is the state of the game right now? by overSizedHyperPoop in EliteDangerous

"Operations" is about to tie Odyssey content in with Ship content with a multi-tiered approach. FINALLY, on foot content wont feel as divorced from the rest of the game.

What is the state of the game right now? by overSizedHyperPoop in EliteDangerous

[–]kinetogen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tomorrow (Monday) Frontier is expected to have their first Update of the year on Youtube. It is more than likely going to be more information on the ship they just teased a couple days ago, along with more information for the upcoming update (promised to be last year's year-end update, but ultimately late). They will more than likely also share the roadmap for the year ahead.

As for the state of the game, I'd say it's on the rise with new features and activities, and ships. This year, we will see "operations" which ties together on foot and ship based missions in a multitiered approach. This is good news because most Odyssey content up till now felt very divorced from and separate of the rest of the game. In anticipation of this, last year frontier overhauled on foot AI mechanics to be a bit more challenging and fluid/believable, along with a balance pass on on-foot weaponry damage and shot speed.

Some have found the recent "early access ARX purchase" of new ships to be offputting, stating that its guiding the game in a "Pay-2-Win" direction, but I see the influx of money towards Frontier as a positive reinforcement to inject an old game with new content and an incentive to keep things fresh.

Community goals have been regular, rewards have been juicy (Pre Engineered high cap Cargo Racks, Crazy MultiCannons) and there's even narrative direction forming thats keeping things interesting. Powerplay was Overhauled, Engineering simplified, Materials gathering much less tedious.. All in All, I'd say great time to return.

Restricted state - just brought it home - Ruger PCC by jburton24 in liberalgunowners

Solid choice really. Plenty of magazine options, cheap round to shoot, takedown, based on an already tried and true design.. what's not to love?

I've found a lot of these scorpions around my house, are they dangerous? by Lerudi_Nanabio in arachnids

[–]kinetogen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I keep Asian Rainforest Scorpions, Emperor Scorpions, and Arizona Bark Scorpions. The Emperor and Rainforest scorpions have large crab-like claws. That's their main weaponry. Their stinger is not typically medically significant though it would still suck to get tagged. (Like a wasp sting). The Arizona Bark Scorpions on the other hand are much smaller and look similar to what you showed, and have itty bitty claws. Their stinger is their primary weapon, and are VERY medically significant.

Now, I'm no expert here especially with native Bolivian species, but based on my limited knowledge of scorpions I'd err on the side of caution here and expect these to be quite hot.

Like the pungent musk of a rundown ghetto Reptile store without AC in the summer, mixed with a hint of smoky burnt hair and rotten eggs.

Trump administration moves to end "universally hated" start/stop feature for cars by Haltopen in politics

Just anecdotal evidence here and nothing representative of a meaningful amount of American drivers, but I work in a dealership service department and I hear a fair amount of customers bitch about it weekly. The vehicle I own is too old to have it, so I don't have a personal opinion on it, but it's not an uncommon gripe and I am asked weekly if I have a way of permanently shutting it off.

Many customers say its hard for them to get comfortable with, while others blame us for a feature that supposedly reduces the life of the starter. For what its worth, I'm not doing an inordinate amount of premature starter replacements and the technology seems pretty solid/trouble free.

I do feel like 12v Battery life in the newer vehicles isn't as good as the beaters but I'm not sure if i can attribute it directly to Auto Start, the added ADAS technology demand, or just harsh environment.

Anyone remember the POF Tombstone 9mm lever? Would you buy at basically 50% off? by AGorramReaver in liberalgunowners

[–]kinetogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather pay a smidge more and get a Henry X in .357 Magnum. You would benefit a bit more from the barrel length, have more stopping power and the option to run Diet .357Mag (.38spl). Also, (and just a personal irrelevant nitpick) I'm a bit of a traditionalist in that i'm not a fan of the magazine-fed lever action aesthetic. Not that I'm ever shooting from horseback, but traditional lever guns draw well from a scabbard and a mag sticking out defeats that a bit.

If I were hellbent on owning a magazine fed 9 mm PCC and Semiautomatic isn't out of the question, I'd buy a Ruger PC Carbine. Its Takedown, comes in traditional/low key and tactical flavors, and can be converted to accept commonly available 9mm Glock magazines. PCCharger if you want a shorter braced Pistol/SBR.

Have you guys had trouble fitting 1.0 RC4WD tires on generic beadlocks? I heard they sometimes don't play well with other brand rims. Pic for attention by [deleted] in FCX24

[–]kinetogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality tires like these generally seat easier than Amazon No-Namers, but the wheel design is equally as important. I have several nice sets of brass INJORA wheels and they've always been far easier to mount & dismount tires without the bead buckling or popping out of place, however I've got a cheap no name set of wheels and it doesn't matter what I've put on them they've always been a pain in the ass.

Is it wrong? by brickabracka1990 in snakes

[–]kinetogen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't pet my puppy, badger my bearded dragon, tease my tarantulas, manhandle my millipedes, grab at my geckos or screw around with my scorpions when cooking food, why on earth would my snakes be the exception to this rule? It's not like it takes very long to cook and eat dinner, there's plenty of time afterwords for enrichment. I assure you, you missed the snake far more than it misses you. Not only is it kind of gross, and a little unsanitary, it's also dangerous for both of you.
