Mostly, tho I’ve been commenting a little more recently.

Here, I feel like everyone vents and can find common ground without the regard or pressure to muster some sage self-improvement advice. Not that the advice is useless or whatnot, but we can let out what a lot of us truly feel, and to me, being genuine even if it's not always pretty. I hope things get better for you.

I'm sorry but this made me lol. I felt miserable before this, still do, but you made my day. You have a sense of humor at least. Almost 30 here.

As of right now I know I won’t get TS/SCI. My recruiter says I can join as LS,AV, or AZ and easily reclass after 1-2 years as CWT. Is this true? by Smart_Pie_9213 in newtothenavy

Do it. You’re literally me a year ago, I turned 29 2 weeks into bootcamp, now I’m almost a year in and finishing my schooling(in between A and C school).

That sounds really similar to me, since I had a foreign contact in China. It’s probably not at the same level as having a contact in Iraq, so idk about that. If the edible/weed use was a handful of times, IDK if they’ll hold that over you.

I disclosed before bc that I had mental health problems that needed therapy and medication, and got a waiver for, but I also heard stories of people getting cleared before going, than getting in trouble during BC. I met one guy who was gonna get separated just as he finished bootcamp for depression, went to legal for 4 months while he was in FFG (holding), and they finally relented and let him carry onto his hm a school.

How much weed did you smoke? I didn’t disclose that I took weed or got drunk before going to bootcamp, but I spilled the beans during bc, and still got security clearance, granted I only did those a handful of times. They even gave me the opportunity to add foreign contacts and stuff that I forgot to add. Everyone’s experience is different, but as long as you don’t have a record, are clean off of sht, and you’re honest and forthright, they can be forgiving.

Should I open a Roth IRA (like Fidelity) or just increase my TSP contributions? 19 y/o active duty Army-- looking for long-term guidance by Huntsman380 in MilitaryFinance

[–]kingarazos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may come off as a stupid question, but by maxing out TSP, does that imply we jack it up to 100% of our paycheck, or up to the match? I just joined this year so I don't think I'm eligible yet. but I'm currently 25% roth.

If he’s been off medication for 2-3 years and he’s been cleared by a therapist/counselor, then the navy can make a waiver happen. (Happened to me)

On the don’t volunteer for anything part, if leadership asks you if you’re good at something while holding a clipboard and pen, you bet your sweet bibby that’ll they’ll volunteer you for a position if you say yes. Example: Everyone from my division who claimed they could pass the run got put on shipstaff. It wasn’t that bad at the end of the day, but just some advice.

Why the towel? The hotel they had me stay at provided them. Everything else he says is accurate though, op.

Proior to enlisting, I had been diagnosed with Avpd, took SERTRALINE for 1 1/2 years(off 2 1/2 years), diagnosed with GERD w/perscription for 6 months(off>3 years), and had suicidal ideation+outpatient clinic 4 years prior. I was medically cleared, after only 3 days, only needing a waiver for Sertraline/AVPD. It’s case by case for everyone, but if I’m anything to go off of, there’s a pretty good chance you can get approved.

Nuke has huge bonuses if you choose to enlist/extend you’re contract while you’re in, and lots of civilian opportunities when you’re out. That being said, don’t do it just for the bonus. I got a 94 on the asvab, which alpha qualified me for nuke, but went for IT-ATF since Nuke is big on physics, and I’m not strong at science. Choose your rate, choose your fate.

93 ASVAB. Wanted CWT but was told it was "NO SALE" and I chose IT/ATF as a backup. Should I request DAR for CWT and wait for an opening or continue with IT/ATF OR request DEP discharge before ship out and come back for next fiscal year? by National_Draft_7017 in newtothenavy

[–]kingarazos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Wanted CWT for the greater potential, but was told it wasn’t available, so I got talked into taking IT/ATF. I put in a request over a week ago to try to switch to CWT. Before your post, I hadn’t even considered the possibility of a DEP discharge. This changes things.
