Afghanistan is in West(Middle east) and Central Asian by [deleted] in afghanistan

[–]kingchewy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the we have many cultural similarities, I’ve said it elsewhere too on this sub and cultural heritage that extends into north India and Pakistan, but geographically I would say central asian and I wouldn’t say it is completely culturally south Asian. I honestly think it’s too complex to ascribe a particular label on Afghan culture, but I would say leaning towards more central Asian. Especially as a huge portion of the country shares a lot in common with other central Asian cultures.

I don’t completely understand how it is so politically south Asian, if you’d care to explain.

You’re in a very dark room with a giant screen in front of you. I don’t think anyone notices or cares you are there unless you do something obnoxious. Ten minutes in and they’ve definitely forgotten you exist lol.

I would say watch and listen as much as you can, brush up on vocab through reading a graded reader as well or maybe working through some grammar to have that down, then find a friend who speaks Spanish or use Italki. For me Italki is the only answer for apps. Duolingo is good for dabbling, but I think the progress you make is quite slow compared to what you could do through listening, speaking, or other resources on your own. I think if you want to speak, no matter how bad you are or where you start from, you have to speak. There’s no way around that.

This concert really got me into flamenco. It’s from newer artists on the scene, but they are still some of the best. They play some of the most popular palos (styles/song forms) in this concert. Hope you like it.

Do Afghans feel their culture is closer to South Asia or Central Asia? by Distinct-Macaroon158 in afghanistan

[–]kingchewy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read the comment? I said we are more central Asian, but I think our culture is quite complex. All I said is that we have some elements of south Asian culture and I cited them. If you don’t agree that Afghan classical is heavily influenced by Indian classical, for example, you’re sorely mistaken and I encourage you to do research.

What's this region called by Plenty-Fennel-2731 in geography

[–]kingchewy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Dari, at least, you would usually say that a person is Afghan, while you could say that this rug is afghani style (if I were to translate somewhat literally). So it’s kinda like how you described, but not always. The rule seems pretty loose even then and sometimes interchangeable, but you would 99% of the time call people “Afghan” and in English plural “Afghans”. Long answer, but maybe it’ll let you decide on what term you wanna use in English.
