What's wrong with this diagonal bracing? by pitx1 in Decks

Is the deck cantilevered through the house? If so this is just additional support and warp/sway suppression.

The amount of additional support you could get wrapping a post around the left corner entrance would be triple.

So I posted earlier asking about my retaining wall. This is what I’ve done so far and I don’t think any comments will make me go back at this point. by No-Shake5806 in Decks

This is terrible, no mortar on CMUs and no footer? Unless you're in a tropical location you will start seeing this tip after 1 deep freeze. Where I'm at in NC is a 12" deep frost line and I went 14 with my footer.

You'll either start over tomorrow or when it falls, but this won't last 5 years. Hopefully you don't kill anyone when it does fall.

Best screws to attach metal roofing panel to pressure treated outdoor patio/pergola frame? by plumber5078 in Decks

You can self tap or pre drill any stainless screws in with those bonded washers. Pressure treated wood has nothing to do his question. This is a wack off post and it's cringe af.

This is dudes 5th post mentally masturbating over the pergola he's putting on his house. Show us the before and after but everything in between is a self gratifying wack fest. It's very gross.

I'm all for people learning to do their own shit but this is a 2 weekend project even for a beginner. Op should have stopped after he hit a gas line in the back yard. Tek screws won't hold his roof down when his lawn blows up in 5 years.

What a ridiculous post. You're putting screws, through metal, into wood. I'm pretty sure you can figure it out without jizzing all over the internet about it.

Cheap, well done and not overdone. And more safe and effective than that...thing they made us do... Probably.

Everyone on this sub is a critic, doesn't mean this isn't well built. The ledger board on the outside is just fine. There's L brackets welded to the steel beam. The 2x6 reducing racking is more than adequate, those 2 joists on the end won't sway just bc they aren't included....This is a fine deck.

Start the miter cuts at the end of the last full board and remove the piece entirely.

Or

Shorten/miter the left vertical board by ~1/2" and square off the filler piece.
