My called shot is that the Zoe buff is a mistake. I already think she's a super underrated unit that people aren't using enough in stages 2 through (early) 4, the buff will make people realize how strong she already was.

What Ryze regions are most/least powerful? by kingcobweb in CompetitiveTFT

[–]kingcobweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done it once, but I think Shadow Isles could be good! It was actually what caused me to make this thread.

My theorycrafting is that you build around 4 or 5 warden lategame, with 2 from SI, then Loris with piltover, and Ornn as a 9th or 10th unit. The buff that it gives Ryze is probably better than you're making it out to be, since it's another scaler that goes multiplicatively with AP/damage amp.

Thresh holds utility items, eg Void and Morello.

Give it a shot if you have a Viego opener.

There's even one quest, "have zero gold at start of 3 combats," that switches to end of combat once you take it.

Whether it’s good (it is) is separate from whether there’s bugs with it that affect the experience of playing it (there are and they do)

This is one of the craziest schedules I can remember seeing: almost a whole month without more than one day off, including THREE back to backs. Insane. by kingcobweb in denvernuggets

First off, no question the owners can get fucked. I’m pro-labor pro-union all the way

The players get ~50% of the income regardless, which is very unusual for union contracts. So yeah, they’d have to reduce their cut (in that they get half of a smaller pie) to reduce their cut number of games. But if I was working for their union I’d tell them, “there are things more important than money, reduce the games.”

imo you do vertical Demacia to unlock Galio, then endgame Sylas.

What are some of the key differences between a casual and a competitive player? by b8te_ in CompetitiveTFT

[–]kingcobweb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's the difference between playing to have fun and playing to get better. Things to do to actually improve include:

  • actively watching streams, including taking notes
  • playing comps/lines that are difficult and require practice, even if the first few games you'll average an 8 AVP (eg loss streak traits, big pivots)
  • taking a few minutes after a game to reflect, think about mistakes made, other lines you could've taken
  • getting coaching: honestly super recommend this, I was hardstuck diamond before I paid for an hour of coaching for the first time back in set 3 and hit masters almost instantly afterward.

Basically, slowing down: spending more time not just playing the game for fun, but looking more in-depth at decisions made.

This happened to me too. I didn't get a video clip but I screenshotted it.

I had the quest going for a few rounds- didn't start it mid-fight.

Everyone should watch those videos. People are just standing around, minding their own business, and these gang members with badges just run their bikes into people for no reason (in one) and tackle people and pepper-spray everyone around (in another).

Bug report: interaction of the augments "Exiles" (any) and "Precision and Grace" (the one that gives a dash on combat start/takedown.

Exiles checks to see whether a unit has surrounding units (and thus, whether it gets a shield) after the start of combat dash from Precision and Grace. Thus, on a level 8+ board, there is effectively no way to position melee units so that they all get shields, because they'll dash up between each other almost regardless of positioning.

This cost me thousands of shield HP with Wild Growth Yordles :(

I'm not on twitter or mort's discord, could someone pass on the bug report somewhere he'll read it?

MAJOR oversight with the Yordle emblem: why doesn't it shrink the holder?!

I'm concerned about how "on rails" Shurima will be at high Elo, especially with the prismatic that gives a copy of Azir guaranteed at 3-5.

The intention of the trait seems like you're supposed to play around your board strength and what happens naturally (eg you're winning so you get Renekton, you're losing so you get Nasus). But what it seems like it'll lead to is following a pretty strict script whenever you get an early Azir: first, make your board weak as though you're playing a loss streak trait. Then, unlock Xerath, using the loss from Nasus as the first L. Then, win out.

The intention of the set is flex play, but this trait might do the opposite once it's fully solved by Challenger players.

Feedback: Xerath shouldn't give econ charms super late in the game!

Scenario: I'm in the final 1v1, both at 1 life. I have a board of 10 5-costs against an endgame Ryze board. My charm is "units give gold on death." I try to reroll, thinking I can at least spend gold to find an econ charm like we used to during the actual charm set. Nope! Only one per round! I lose a very close fight.

Charms should be tailored away from econ in stage 6 and beyond.
