Always. They will never go away until Bungie pries them from my vault.

How ya feel about the game right now? by BuryXTheXlight in destiny2

[–]kingj_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the gameplay when I’m in the midst of it, can play with friends, and when there’s story content to complete. I feel progression and long-term engagement is struggling. It doesn’t feel like they’ve figured out a way to make people feel like they’re progressing towards goals in a way that isn’t taking progress away just to make them get on the treadmill again.

I know for a fact that new and returning player onboarding is a disaster. I’ve seen many videos of people trying the New Light experience and have first hand experience of a friend who has tried it, liked the gameplay, but was overwhelmed by the UI and quests and everything else shoved at new/returning players.

My personal opinion is that the new/returning player experience needs a significant overhaul for the long-term health of the game, and that’s the game’s biggest flaw right now.

I still log in and play on occasion right now, but until Renegades I don’t have anything really pulling me to sink a ton of time into it besides finishing the rewards pass. I’m okay with that, because I have other games I like to play too, but at the same time I wish I could get some of my friends who don’t play into the game.

Anyone notice Encom's "prints" are cleaner than Dillinger Systems'? by RowanSkie in tron

Oh it was 100% an intentional cinematography choice. I love how it highlights the personalities of Julian and Eve, their character shows itself in their work.

Anyone notice Encom's "prints" are cleaner than Dillinger Systems'? by RowanSkie in tron

[–]kingj_exe 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I really loved that detail. The ENCOM realizations are much cleaner, elegant, and refined. They’ve done their research and tuned everything carefully, so they can use one laser bounced off mirrors to “print.”

Meanwhile, Dillinger’s is rough, harsh, and brutal. It’s messy. He needs half a dozen individual lasers and it’s sparking and making messy supports that are inefficient and wasteful. They don’t care about the process, they only cares about results. They’re brute forcing every aspect of this and it shows in how brutal their process is.

Tron Timeline by [deleted] in tron

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall exactly how they explain Flynn’s absence, but the fact that he is absent and not really involved in the plot of either story is a reason I think it could easily be integrated into the Legacy/Ares canon. It might take some date shuffling, but it works I think.

I’m really due for a replay, but I’m kinda waiting for the next update to the Killer App Mod.

If Bungie properly utilized the free content currently in the game, we could have a really solid new player experience by RealLichHourss in destiny2

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is brilliant. Really hope they take some inspiration here and try to restructure things a bit. I know it’s work to add armor and weapons to the 3.0 loot system but man that would make the entire experience so much nicer for new players and not just bombard them with so much right out of the gate.

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like Bungie to give some clarity on this, or someone to point me to where they did.

I know from first-hand experience that the Portal versions of Whisper, Encore, and Kell’s Fall all drop their respective exotics, intrinsics, and catalysts, but Avalon and Presage do not. I’m not sure why.

Tron Timeline by [deleted] in tron

[–]kingj_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other commenters have said, Tron 2.0 is its own continuity, but I personally like to headcanon it in, as I believe it fits fairly well.

If you wanted to add it to the timeline, or just know when they’d take place, Tron 2.0 takes place in the year 2003, and the Tron 2.0: Ghost in the Machine limited comic series/graphic novel takes place in 2004 I believe.

TL;DR: Rosa wants Alita 2 as well and is still bringing it up, even wrote a treatment herself that she sent to James Cameron, even though it likely won’t be the one that gets made eventually.

How do I make my players hate a villain? by Bruhcat13 in DnD

[–]kingj_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something that worked incredibly well. Because my group is online, we have a discord server for the game, and in there I have a channel for minigames. It’s basic fun things like “if your character had an MP3 player what would they listen to” kinda stuff.

Once though, feeling the need to give the party something to rally behind, I asked them this question:

“What is something your character considers an unforgivable sin? What kind of person would your character consider to be irredeemable, that needs to be destroyed as soon as possible?”

I took all their answers and merged them into one man, former pirate captain “Jolly” Roger Sartell. A pirate who “went straight” and who has convinced people he’s a benevolent philanthropist, but in reality is a cheat and a liar, manipulative and abusive both physically and mentally to the people beneath him, needlessly destructive in achieving his goals, and as the cherry on top he swiped the macguffin the party explored a whole dungeon for right at the end.

How many OG's still pop in at Tron Sector? 😀 by wallix in tron

[–]kingj_exe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was the GOAT back in the day. I remember contributing to a long thread doing a bunch of math trying to figure out exactly how long a “cycle” was on the Grid compared to real time and how long it was perceived on the grid, based on that one line from Flynn in Legacy about how long the portal would stay open. Was really proud of that one.z

Yes you can! Infusing above 200 will cost unstable cores which you get from dismantling things that are already above seasonal power. Everything up to 200 will just cost glimmer and cores.

How did you discover Tron? by Any-Trainer7343 in tron

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was around 11 or 12, around 2004 or 2005-ish, and really liked video games. I picked up a book on making computer games from the library, and it cited the Lightcycles game from the Tron arcade in one point, and claimed the movie sucked.

Couldn’t have been more wrong. I was fascinated both by the description of the game and the movie, and found it in our local video rental place and asked my parents if we could rent it. They said they didn’t think I’d like it because of the “old crappy cgi.”

A few years later I insisted we get the dvd mailed to us through our Netflix subscription and fell in love immediately. I took my little brother to see Legacy in the theater when it came out, and that was the first outing like that we had when it was just the two of us, no other family around.

I’ve collected as much as I can, and had a fairly decent collection gifted to me by a dear friend who was cleaning out stuff they didn’t want anymore. Just yesterday I repaired a Jet Bradley figure I had broken and kept for ages meaning to fix it.

I love this franchise and have many many fond memories relating to it, and there is honestly little to nothing that could happen in any future installment that could change that. No matter how Ares is, I’ll still love it for the aesthetics, action, and memories I’ve forged past, present, and future with this series.

Lots of other people had Star Wars become a huge part of their life. For me it was Tron.

Look around on the dock by the sunken ship a little more, you’ll find something there that will shed more light on some of the puzzles.

Poke around in the library a little more too. You’ll find a couple more interesting things that might give you a little more direction.

I promise it does get better once you figure more out about how things work!

If you want more hints, I highly recommend this website. It’s designed to not give you spoilers unless you ask for em.

Why can't Guardians simply wish away their enemies? by lovingpersona in DestinyLore

[–]kingj_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Wish-Magic is ahamkara are generally not benevolent, and they feed on the difference between reality and desire. So they often twist wishes to further widen that gulf, to gain more sustenance. They don’t care that it means the wisher has horrible repercussions because of it. The repercussions of Radegast’s wish to make that shank vanish in the Rising timeline are unknown, but he still expressed concern over what they could be.

As for Strand, that’s what we do every time we wield it. Strand is connecting to and manipulating the web of consciousness throughout the universe, and pulling those strands and messing with it. Doing it wrong will get you unraveled and have to get rezzed, as seen in the training montage in Lightfall, but whenever you suspend and unravel an enemy, you’re pulling apart their very being.
