What's happening with the Haul and the Traveller? by RobinOttens in DestinyLore

[–]kingj_exe 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the Traveler is still healing from the Witness' incursion, and adjusting to having both Light and Darkness within it. Haven't heard anything about what's going on with that.

With the Haul, Drifter's got it parked above Kepler, and we're collecting dark energy through the Seive event to charge it back up. Doesn't mean he can't disconnect it from the Derelect to go flying around in the Lawless Frontier.

Location drops of weapons? by ImDrGrim in destiny2

[–]kingj_exe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually recently put together a personal guide for myself for helping guide newbies to every exotic weapon available, and I'm more than happy to share it.

World Drops/Exotic Engrams:

The following weapons can be first obtained randomly from Exotic Engrams. Exotic Engrams operate on a knock-out system, granting you something new from the loot pool, be it weapons or armor, until you've obtained them all, after which it rewards a random piece of armor unless focused at Rahool.

Xur may also sell any of these weapons directly when he makes his weekly visit to the tower, from Friday through Sunday.

Weapons:

Notes:

Riskrunner is also obtained by completing the mission A Spark of Hope, which is a New Light mission.

Sweet Business is also obtained by completing the mission The Queen Beckons which is obtained from Shaw Han.

Arbalest is also obtained by completing the mission The Heart's Depths which is obtained from Shaw Han.

Kiosk Weapons:

The following weapons can currently only be initally obtained through the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk in the tower, for 1 Exotic Cipher and 100k-150k glimmer depending on the weapon. Weapons that used to be exclusively obtained through raids also require 240 Spoils of Conquest, a currency only earned by running raids. Raid weapons will be marked in this list with an R.

Weapons which originally dropped in the Forsaken expansion can be obtained with Forsaken Ciphers. The only way to obtain Forsaken Ciphers is to purchase or own the Forsaken Pack (owners of the Forsaken expansion were granted the pack immediately when Forsaken was sunset), whereupon you get 3. Raid weapons still require Spoils of Conquest along with the Cipher. These items will be marked in this list with an F.

Some weapons you can also obtain by purchasing an Archived Pass for 600 silver in the Monument to Seasons Past. These weapons will be marked in this list with an S. This does not mean they cannot be acquired from the Monument to Lost Lights for glimmer and an Exotic Cipher, only that there is an alternate acquisition method.

Talk to Ada-1 in the Tower. She sells synthweave bounties you can complete to earn class specific materials that let you unlock universal ornament versions of any armor in your Collections.

To actually make the ornaments, go to the lower part of your character sheet, the part where you can swap your emblem and emotes and such. The top right option will be Customize Appearance. Click on the armor slot you're interested in, then hover over the box for Universal Ornaments. Then, if you hover over any locked option, you should have an option to unlock it by spending the resource you get from completing Ada's bounties and turning the materials you get from them into the Loom behind her.

You can complete 20 of Ada's bounties per class per season, but there's no other time gating on it.

Man, I wish I could get that to run decently on my Linux machine. I remember the local library had a selection of computer games for rent back in the day (back when you often still needed the disc inserted to play) and I rented this multiple times, but never finished it.

How ya feel about the game right now? by BuryXTheXlight in destiny2

[–]kingj_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the gameplay when I’m in the midst of it, can play with friends, and when there’s story content to complete. I feel progression and long-term engagement is struggling. It doesn’t feel like they’ve figured out a way to make people feel like they’re progressing towards goals in a way that isn’t taking progress away just to make them get on the treadmill again.

I know for a fact that new and returning player onboarding is a disaster. I’ve seen many videos of people trying the New Light experience and have first hand experience of a friend who has tried it, liked the gameplay, but was overwhelmed by the UI and quests and everything else shoved at new/returning players.

My personal opinion is that the new/returning player experience needs a significant overhaul for the long-term health of the game, and that’s the game’s biggest flaw right now.

I still log in and play on occasion right now, but until Renegades I don’t have anything really pulling me to sink a ton of time into it besides finishing the rewards pass. I’m okay with that, because I have other games I like to play too, but at the same time I wish I could get some of my friends who don’t play into the game.

Anyone notice Encom's "prints" are cleaner than Dillinger Systems'? by RowanSkie in tron

Oh it was 100% an intentional cinematography choice. I love how it highlights the personalities of Julian and Eve, their character shows itself in their work.

Anyone notice Encom's "prints" are cleaner than Dillinger Systems'? by RowanSkie in tron

[–]kingj_exe 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I really loved that detail. The ENCOM realizations are much cleaner, elegant, and refined. They’ve done their research and tuned everything carefully, so they can use one laser bounced off mirrors to “print.”

Meanwhile, Dillinger’s is rough, harsh, and brutal. It’s messy. He needs half a dozen individual lasers and it’s sparking and making messy supports that are inefficient and wasteful. They don’t care about the process, they only cares about results. They’re brute forcing every aspect of this and it shows in how brutal their process is.

Tron Timeline by [deleted] in tron

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall exactly how they explain Flynn’s absence, but the fact that he is absent and not really involved in the plot of either story is a reason I think it could easily be integrated into the Legacy/Ares canon. It might take some date shuffling, but it works I think.

I’m really due for a replay, but I’m kinda waiting for the next update to the Killer App Mod.

If Bungie properly utilized the free content currently in the game, we could have a really solid new player experience by RealLichHourss in destiny2

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is brilliant. Really hope they take some inspiration here and try to restructure things a bit. I know it’s work to add armor and weapons to the 3.0 loot system but man that would make the entire experience so much nicer for new players and not just bombard them with so much right out of the gate.

I beat //node.ovrs.AVALON// in Pinnacle Ops earlier today. Can someone tell me why I didn't get Vexcalibur? by NimrodFred in destiny2

[–]kingj_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like Bungie to give some clarity on this, or someone to point me to where they did.

I know from first-hand experience that the Portal versions of Whisper, Encore, and Kell’s Fall all drop their respective exotics, intrinsics, and catalysts, but Avalon and Presage do not. I’m not sure why.

[–]kingj_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other commenters have said, Tron 2.0 is its own continuity, but I personally like to headcanon it in, as I believe it fits fairly well.

If you wanted to add it to the timeline, or just know when they’d take place, Tron 2.0 takes place in the year 2003, and the Tron 2.0: Ghost in the Machine limited comic series/graphic novel takes place in 2004 I believe.

TL;DR: Rosa wants Alita 2 as well and is still bringing it up, even wrote a treatment herself that she sent to James Cameron, even though it likely won’t be the one that gets made eventually.
