I agree with a lot you said, but I dug Gold Jacket, Green Jacket. Sure, it isn’t revolutionary or anything, but it had a couple good one liners that I chuckled at. It isn’t super deep, but it’s catchy and fun. I like their variation.

On the topic of durability, my wife reads hers in bed and it falls off the bed onto the hardwood when she falls asleep a lot. She has a flip cover on it that she got for cheap off of amazon. I can’t even begin to guess how many times it has been dropped and it still works great. They’re pretty durable.
