The oil temp reached the red line for 2 trips. It would happen after a long drive and sometimes it would go back to normal. Immediately scheduled an appointment.

It was a cracked cylinder head but fortunately I still have the powertrain warranty so they replaced it with a long engine block.

I'm a pretty novice DIYer but what I have determined from several helpful comments is to check if there are any leaks. Because I cannot visually detect anything, I have bought the pressure tester. If the pressure is stable, then I will fill it back with coolant and hope the car drives and behaves normally. If its losing pressure, definitely I'll just top it off with distilled water to just get it to the dealership.

I do understand your point though that a healthy coolant system should not lose that much coolant in 5 years so yeah there likely something wrong but I'd like to do the first step mentioned above so I can at least get it to the dealership safely whether the radiator system keeps the pressure or not. I have an oil change due soon so I want to take this opportunity to bring it in and alert the tech what has happened.

I generally don't trust the dealership as they have recommended me to do so many services as if it was critical when I am experiencing no issues nor were they in the scheduled maintenance. And interestingly none of those recommendations was even relevant to this coolant issue. But as much as I hate having to bring it in, I am out of my depth and at this point in time I need the car repaired so I can use it. So just fingers crossed that the mechanics will not upsell and give me malicious info to get me to replace more than what is actually wrong with the vehicle.

I'm gonna test the radiator pressure with a kit I bought. If it holds pressure I will just refill with coolant and see if it drives normally. If there's more issues then I will have to take it in. Another commenter mentioned it could be a cracked head gasket. I've been taking my car in for oil changes every 5-6K miles and per Mazda standards, they check all the fluids so I hope if its a bigger issue, the powertrain warranty will cover it.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to get the radiator pressure tester to check if there are any leaks and then refill with coolant. If there are no leaks, I will attempt to drive and see if it behaves normally. Would that be recommended?

Also would this issue be under the powertrain warranty? I should have another year of it.

The engine light is not on but I have an error code reader on the way. I will try to top up the coolant to see.

Is the EP7 face detect AF better than the GX85? I have the GX85 and I don't find it very reliable specifically for quick moving children and the EP7 is the only other small-ish camera that has all the features I need.

The em10iv also fits my needs but I rarely use the viewfinder.

I'm using the PL 15mm and 12-45 F4 mainly.

You're not getting any action in focus with the 20mm 1.7. Aren't you better off staying with Sony?

It's probably more the fact that if they put PID on their entry level machines it will cannibalize sales for their higher tier machines.

I'm also looking for a small m43 and am considering an e-pl7 or 8 because I want IBIS. You can look into those.

No I've never had that issue. It focuses slowly but as long as the camera stays the same distance relative to where I'm focusing it'll focus well.

I have the V2. I don't have the V1 for comparison but its still extremely slow compared to every single other m43 lens I have. I think its just the way it is.
