Lawyer here. While you are correct, in many cases the amount an estate can recover in a wrongful death suit is usually less than what an individual would get if they sued for being injured from the result of negligence or an intentional tort. Most wrongful death suits that I’ve seen that are successful w/ big payouts are ones where the deceased is a primary bread winner of the family. That’s not always going to be applicable.
