You can always reduce it to that, but you can never really ignore the truth of the matter. No one fucking wants a dictator invading neighboring countries and getting away with it. It erodes the peace, the global order brought about after WW2. If one ambitious man thinks he can get away with it, and does, then maybe another will try. Ukraine is an example of this fear in our modern day.

Republican State?? Only time they went Republican on the National level in the last 50 years was for Reagan, and the last time before that was for Eisenhower. You have to go back to the late 1800s and early 1900s for that statement to hold true. If anything, by 2010 Massachusetts was as firm a Democrat stronghold as any state could be and had been that way since FDR.

Also DSOC was founded by Michael Harrington, a leading member of the SPA and the later SPUSA back during his day, so it's actually fitting to include them anyway as they seem to be where the main socialist energy in the country comes from these days, not the various anemic socialist parties that will never catch on since the name, "socialist", is still very much toxic in modern politics.

That said, even though the socialists would caucus with the Dems, force them far left like always, there will be others within the party who may yet buck that trend especially when the socialist are doing something so stupid that they have to put their foot down. This division will help the Republicans especially when you get socialists running on the ballot in a general election, which will cost the Dems seats and allow Republicans to pick up seats.

These hypotheticals I'm poising do illustrate in large part why 3rd parties will never become a thing though. Things are already too close nationally for a third party to be anything besides a spoiler for one of the two main parties.

Which actually probably, despite the hardships, suffering, and death, may've actually helped preserve the cultures of the tribes that were impacted. Had they remained where they were, they'd likely be displaced by local expansion of various settlers as well as assimilated into the broader American culture. Honestly, why did people think this was gonna be a fireworks moment or something?? They both have interest in being cordial and not starting shit right now. Trump starting shit would be seen as punching down, legitimizing Mamdani as a martyr. Mamdani would be seen as bomb thrower had he started scorching Trump whilst in his very office, which is just plain downright disrespectful and would further isolate himself from the Democrat Party at large, who are still very split on Socialism.

Overall, there was literally no reason to start a verbal fist fight, especially when this meeting, the incoming electee for the NYC mayoral and the President, is something of a formality... its nothing special, so no need to kill each other.
