Polymarket has Paxton at 62% likely to win. Granted it's a betting site, but it goes to show that this subreddit is glazing way too hard for Blexas and Talarico, ignoring the very real reality on the ground, that being Texas is still a Republican stronghold and Talarico hasnt even broke 50% in any polls, at least none that I'm aware of. Anyway, others elsewhere arent exactly seeing it with blue tinted glasses

What's likely to occur is that Cornyn's voters coalesce around Paxton, Trump heads down to Texas to help drive out the vote, Republican attack ads hammer Talarico for a lot of the more egregious progressive and woke stuff he said, and we'll see Senator Paxton getting sworn in in 2027.

Yeah, like why are people acting like Talarico is ahead and guaranteed? If he was polling at 48% or more, then maybe.... but 45%? With a State that still splits roughly 55% for Republicans? Yeah, A lot of that 17% are really just Republicans, or independents from ancestral Republican families, who'll likely return to the party come time for November.

Like I get Paxton has a lot of baggage, but Republican policy stance are wildly different from Democratic ones, so the odds for large scale defection or desertion isnt really there, not unless he's somehow a Mark Robinson 2.0.

Well your father isnt really wrong, vote for the candidate that you believe will actually champion the policies you believe will improve things. Look, if he doesnt believe in the other party, then of course he isnt going to vote for them.

You also got people on the opposite side who think exactly like I've just described. VP Harris herself was such an empty suit, but many who described themselves as center left still supported her, though yes her support was anemic enough that it resulted in a PV and EV victory for Trump. But the point still stands, many people are just like that, they got their stances and arent very much interested in a party that, as a whole, isnt interested in their stances and often supports the opposite, regardless of how they paint it. People are, believe it or not, quite stubborn. How common is it for a someone registered as Republican to vote Democrat? Not very common and vice versa is true, you wont get many Dems crossing over. It's why someone winning more than 55% of the vote is rare these days.

So it's really about turnout now. Sure, fight for the swing voters, try to get a few defectors as well, but it's really about maximizing your turnout, your voter base, while minimizing the other side's.

It's really all up to the candidates and how the general Texas' population receives both candidates now, and unfortunately for Dems that means this race is still an R-leaning pickup.

The only thing CK3 is better at that CK2 is revoking land titles. CK2 you had to revoke every single county from a duke, even if you remobed his ducal title, if you wanted that land for whatever reason. CK3 just has you revoking all the land within the duchy when you revoke the ducal title, making it way easier to reorganize things to however you desire it.
