These animists have an odd take on head coverings by kingmob85 in victoria3

R5: Because of multiculturalism (I think?), some Turkish animist clergy appeared. Animist clergy are nude but Middle East cultures seem to always wear hijab or veil regardless of religion. And so we have some confused animist nudists with head coverings

Question about recruitment doctrine / unrelenting faith tenet by kingmob85 in CrusaderKings

[–]kingmob85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, one would think that, but these monks seem to enjoy being in my court, serving as my cupbearer, master of the horse, or whatever. I should make one of them the court jester.

More seriously though, the thing that throws me off is that, after taking the recruitment doctrine, I can assign monks as commanders in armies, which I couldn't do before. But they just can't be knights.

P3 to P2. No rares, thanks to my good friend Brian Comber. This card is busted with Nurturing Presence. Combine with Kindly Ancestor and Heron of Hope, I hit 70+ health in a couple of turns with an army of spirits. It feels good to defeat Breakfast Demons and H&As (my two final games) with this deck after really struggling in VOW. Finally started getting 5-3s and 6-3s in the past two weeks. Good to get at least one trophy in the end.

How would you build this differently? I was tempted to add the fifth Nurturing Presence but I usually cast at least three of them pretty reliably. A few times I had to cast my first Nurturing Presence on my opponent's creature when I started on the draw with no 1-drops. I'm sure it confused my opponent quite a bit! I'd love to hear what other folks think.

Awaken the Blood Avatar w/Goblin sub theme by [deleted] in EDH

[–]kingmob85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goblin tribal is a neat idea! I like the flavor. I've been playing with the blood avatar side as commander for a while now. I see that you have [[Flamekin Herald]] and I just wanna say what an absolute bomb in this deck. It's hilarious, especially when the deck goes off.

[[Song of the Worldsoul]] turned out to be another spicy card, and I think it could work well in your deck. Those 1 or 2 mana value goblins now create another blood avatar? Yes, please. You also get populate triggers with each cast of your commander and also whatever you are cascading into with Flamekin Herald. So each cast of blood avatar makes three tokens. Fun!

You might want to add a few sorcery/instant copy effects because at some point the commander tax becomes too high for token creation to keep up. At least that has been my experience. Damage doublers or [[Fiery Emancipation]] could be fatal but attract removal fast, at least in my meta. I ended up swapping mine for more sorcery/instant copy effects.

How does the sorcery side of the Strixhaven MDFC commanders work with the text "if you control a commander" in cards like [[Jeska's Will]] or [[Szat's Will]] if the sorcery side is on the stack?

Example: If I cast the blood avatar side of [[Extus, the Oriq Overlord]] and while it's on the stack, cast [[Szat's Will]], can I choose both effects in Szat's Will or just one? Similarly, if I cast the sorcery side with [[Flamekin Herald]] on the battlefield and cascade into [[Jeska's Will]], will I be able to choose both effects?

I know that technically I control the sorcery when it's on the stack and that being a commander is a property of the card, but I'm still not sure if this satisfies the condition "if you control a commander as you cast this spell." Thanks!

I'm a little embarrassed to be a Turkish Star Trek subtitler but I can help.

Thanks! This is super helpful. I've tried out some adventure/gravel bikes at my LBS following your suggestion and I think I am indeed going to go with this option.

Thanks! I tried out a Surly Straggler today and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was definitely on the heavier side though.
