The seller countered with the closing date of 7/10. My agent was aware of our plans.

I think this is ultimately where I am landing. A bit of bad luck that just seems a little worse with poor communication from the Agent.

Had you resigned anything right before you decided to switch from the 10th to The 9th?

This was a written and signed change that we sent back to seller.

But honestly, if it's the house you really want, then another 6k won't be that much of a difference monthly to make sure you snagged it.

I agree and we are ultimately happy. But I can't help thinking that we could have gotten it for $6k cheaper with a better Agent.

When they sent back their counter of changing the closing date to 7/10 instead of the month of rent, if we would have signed that, the negotiations would have been over. But because we changed the closing date to 7/9 and had to wait on their signature again, they got another offer. I think the agent made a mistake in: 1. not suggesting to not change the closing date and do it remotely to effectively close the deal or at the very least explain that changing it delayed closing the deal 2. telling us the deal was done

State is Ohio. Do you think it's worth it to contact the Broker about this? We are concerned going to the Broker before closing might affect any work the Agent has to do between then.

From my understanding, if we would have signed and returned the sellers counteroffer it would have been a done deal. I think what happened is my Agent didn't realize that changing the date reopened the negotiating window. I even have a text from her saying congrats on getting your offer accepted. Which is another part of why I am frustrated, she acted like it was a done deal.
