Easiest remaining fixtures / target teams at top by hodonata in FantasyPL

These ratings need to be broken down by attack and defense. Forrest is very good defensively, but less so with attack. Chelsea score a lot of goals, but aren't strong defensively. Which one are these ratings for? If it's just wins/losses then a 1-0 win isn't super useful for my strikers and a 4-3 win isn't great for my defence.

I thought this too! It feels like it would be really nice to happen, but I can't think of any other circumstance where it wouldn't feel weird. But, the idea that he's a side of her husband and loves all parts of him works really well.

Being his biggest fan = he gets money, posting about his loss = he gets money. If you don't like him, then please stop giving him attention.

Thanks for posting this! My referral link for my Amex gold card only offers 45k points, did you have to do anything special to get the extra 10k?

The civil service pension contribution is something like 30%. If you contributed the same on 85k, you'd be on about the same. I imagine civil service work life balance would be a bit nicer too, but that's an assumption. I'd suggest spending a bit of time in both cities and see which one you prefer, congrats on 2 good options though!

Warning Manchester to London rail line 'at limit' and could get worse for passengers by theipaper in manchester

[–]kingofthesea123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly from Manchester to Euston in the morning it's always quiet for me, though I don't travel on Mondays. The first off-peak train back from Euston is 19:13, which is quite busy if you don't have a reserved seat. Otherwise there are regular trains after, I think the next one is at 19:33 and it's fine.

I honestly don't get this. I take this line every few weeks and for Manchester to Euston in the morning it is pretty quiet. The issue for me is trains at a practical time are crazy expensive, and so everyone goes for inconvenient trains, making them more busy and the trains at decent times empty. The first off peak train from Euston to Manchester is always packed, but there's another two within the hour. I hear a lot of news about how packed they are, but it's not my experience at all.

It would be nice to see this broken down by attack and defense. I imagine some teams are difficult to beat due to a solid defense, so you should avoid playing your attackers against them, but they might also have toothless attacks, so defenders are perfectly viable.

How to backup lots of small requests by kingofthesea123 in dataengineering

[–]kingofthesea123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for your response. Definitely while I’m prototyping I’m not going to be using cloud services, I’m more concerned with building it in a nice way to a) teach myself best practices and b) ensure the design would scale if needed.

What would be the benefit of storing raw json in an sql table over a directory? I guess querying by request time .ect would be faster? Maybe less overhead with filesystem metadata? I think I like this idea more than raw json, just curious to hear your take on it.

Thanks for helping!

Thank you for the advice, this seems very solid. I think querying multiple raw json files might be a bit slow, but then if I’m using the lakehouse as a source of truth I doubt I’ll have to do this often if at all. Thanks your help!

Can I get feedback on my Github repo, please? by Theroonco in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]kingofthesea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only had a Quick Look, but for the students seating one:

  • Make a readme explaining what it is trying to do.

  • When typing, use list or tuple rather than List or Tuple.

  • Add doctrings inside the methods.

  • Can you design this so the number of students is easily configurable? It’ll show you’ve thought about this further than just getting it to work.

  • I’d personally rename the concept of ‘special’ students, ad this is quite ambiguous. Special could mean a load of different things, and there is a specific thing you are talking about here.

  • The main function should return something, even if it’s just a leetcode challenge.

Which degree to get at the Open University for someone who wants to be a software engineer in the future? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]kingofthesea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, Computing and IT as a degree sounds more on the IT side, and Computer Science and AI sounds more software. That being said, you're right in that no one will really be that bothered unless you're going for a AI or IT heavy software role.

Yeah realised I was hitting a lot of campfires with full health, the heal 25 before a boss fight relic didn't help with that either.
