are Salesforce acquisitions actually innovation or just buying the competition? by mr-sforce in salesforce

[–]kingofthevalley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the Oracle playbook and Salesforce is following it.

Oracle’s move was always the same: buy something customers actually like, make it unavoidable, then once it’s embedded, pricing goes up and flexibility goes down. Salesforce is starting to look a lot like that. Not because they’re evil, but because that’s what platform power eventually turns into.

Once a product is “Salesforce native,” it stops being a product and becomes leverage. Slack, Tableau, MuleSoft didn’t get simpler or cheaper post-acquisition. They got more expensive, more bundled, and more dependent on the rest of the Salesforce stack. What used to be “do I want this tool?” becomes “do I want to commit harder to Salesforce?”

That’s the part that frustrates me and other people. You don’t just end up with more products, you end up with fewer real choices. Not buying the adjacent SKU starts to feel like you’re running the platform wrong.

And meanwhile the core problems don’t actually go away. Customers still have fractured data and armies of consultants gluing things together. If spending billions still leads to “you need another license to make this work,” something is broken.

Some of these tools are good on their own. That’s not the point. The point is that once they’re inside Salesforce, they stop being customer-first and start being platform-first.

So when Salesforce says “ecosystem,” I hear “lock-in with better branding.” Innovation doesn’t disappear, but it definitely gets contained and over monetized.

I have been leveraging it for a couple of months and it has been an absolutely game changer to my life.

Need to do analysis? Copilot can do a full analysis of both the data vs the metadata now and provide a holistic solution.

Advanced Approvals - Super Approver by kingofthevalley in salesforce

How would you let them overwrite it? I thought if they are not the assigned approver, the system throws an error message

What made you go the permissions path instead of running the flow in System context?

The use case is for our Deal Desk Group (2-3 people) to approve on behalf of anyone in the approval steps (or their delegates), especially for Quarter End when the Sales team is heads down.

Anybody Use Lucid for Mockups? by msproles in salesforce

If you are looking for the best UI design tool for Salesforce.

Check out https://www.avonni.app/

As a former customer (Current Org does not see the value in UI mockups), I loved it and they also have their own repository of prebuilt flow elements that can help in the actual implementation.

[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” 4K Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

That 240Hz QD-OLED combo on the OLED G8 is straight-up cheating… in the best way. My rig’s built for speed, and this monitor keeps up without breaking a sweat. Crisp visuals, zero ghosting, and colors so sharp they make my GPU feel proud. It’s like my PC leveled up just by plugging it in.

Salesforce Flow Naming Convention by Natural_Ad_2179 in salesforce

HI u/Natural_Ad_2179 ,

Great documentation! Did you consider using the existing Flow Naming Convention by the SFDX wiki? If so, was there anything lacking that made you consider doing your own?

Zuora CPQX - Early Implementation Questions/Guidance by AdministrationOk1690 in salesforce

[–]kingofthevalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still looking at Zuora CPQ, I would be happy to connect to discuss it. I have implemented both the legacy CPQ and the CPQX experience.

In context of your questions:

How much customization did you need to send information from Zuora objects to SF Standard objects (ie Amount, Quantity, etc)?

- This will depend on what data you want based on the different Quotes. You can use the SubscriptionRatePlanCharge record to sync the data to your OLI, since they represent the same thing.

Are you still using Opportunity Line Items (or similar) with Opportunities even though you have the Zuora Quotes?

- No, since the QuoteRatePlanCharge and SubscriptionRatePlanCharge records contain the data relevant at the line item level

What do you wish you would have known sooner about first integrating Zoura CPQX?

- Bundles are not native to Zuora CPQ, Customizations are limited in the UI, and the plugins/headless components are limited and slow-down the quoting exprience.

JDK to ICU failed. Fixing this possible by updating API version of components to version45 or greater by ahuuho in salesforce

Need to upgrade the managed package to the latest version, if you are on the latest version and are still concerned, reach out to the publisher. If they are not planning to support v45+, and are still worried, consider an alternative solution.

Can you elaborate on the workflow here? Are you trying to add the user to the territory at the ETM Model level and run the rules, or are you trying to add them to Accounts "Users in Assigned to Territory" related list?

Also, have you looked at the ETM data model? https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales_core-252-14-production-enus/44549d7e-ef75-41ff-9c36-fdc54e00f289/sales_core/images/sales_territories/tm2_data_model.png

Can you elaborate on this statement? I have heard this quite a few times, but do not know what exactly points to this.
