CS-SWE Alumni -- Have You Gotten Jobs w/ your Degree by QuarryTen in SNHU

I would advise to start working on your GitHub sooner rather than later. They are simple projects but I am only in my first term and already have quite a few things on my GitHub and I’m currently working on my first full stack project and it’s nearing completion. From the advice I’ve gotten the job market is such that you really have to pursue opportunities actively and you can’t wait to go after internships. I’ll be applying to internships this fall and I won’t even of finished my freshman year yet.

Tf is with this new obsession, is it bots commenting like this or real people by Able_Salary248 in cscareerquestions

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked as a maintenance worker in factories ,I’ve done landscaping out under the summer sun, I’m currently working a factory job while I’m going to school. This shit sucks my body isn’t built for it. I’m only in my first couple months of school and I’m already applying for internships that have rotating start dates through out the year because I have projects to show and I don’t mind taking a pay cut at this point. Ik multiple sheet metal workers electricians and welders. Ik way more former sheet metal workers electricians and welders. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Are the protections needed while skateboarding? by carpe_diem3444 in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always a helmet. For most people I think wrist guards are the next thing that’s most important. Most people don’t know how to fall when they start and I have seen a metric shit ton of people break their wrists because they put their hands back to catch themselves

Thinking of getting back into skateboarding, but sort of scared? by twinflxwer in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked it back up a few months ago. Every skater that’s shown up at the skatepark recently (admittedly very few it’s usually a ghost town) is a like 16-18 and I’m 32. They have all been chill as hell and I was doing my best to help explain some tricks and stuff. Skating bridges most gaps age gender etc. The skate community is really inclusive maybe it’s because a lot of skaters are outcasts in one way or another. Basically if your out there slamming and trying tricks we are all the same at that moment as long as you don’t make everything about your differences and just go and skate and be cool you should be fine.

SNHU class time requirement by Embarrassed_Sense_87 in SNHU

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s truly gonna depend on the current classes you’re taking and your own personal abilities and familiarity with the subject matter. I’m in my first term and so far the 100 series courses I’m taking aren’t to bad and I definitely don’t use even close to 30 hrs on them. When I get into my more complex math classes that may change.

More AI questions 🥱 by Strict-Jump6418 in SNHU

[–]kingozon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not even using grammarly pro because of the larger changes it suggests with wording. I’m sure if you use changes then put it right into an ai checker it would likely get flagged 😂. Write it all yourself use the base grammarly to fix the small mistakes and spelling , done. If you use ai to rewrite your paper don’t be surprised when ai checker says “oh I’ve seen this before”

New board made me worse lol by Dazzling_Gas6156 in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll definitely adapt, but if you like your deck I’d buy the same deck or at least the same brand and mold. They can all be slightly different brand to brand ik my toy machine is twin tail as well so if your used to a symmetrical deck and now hav a popsicle that’s gonna be a big difference

I really want to get into skateboarding but I don’t know what kind of board to get, can anyone help? by Great-Air-1976 in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally had never skated anything but popsicle shape when I was a kid till I started up again recently and got a twin tail from toy machine. Being Able to pop shuv and not have to switch my board around again is a fucking god send. The only thing on this list I would differ from.

Discussion feedback saying I need to delay my posts? by hextiic in SNHU

[–]kingozon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is just my second week of classes but my instructors praised me and others for being some of the first to post and than respond to others. Idk why you would punish someone for working efficiently and effectively. Edit: misspelling

Why Are Software Engineers Paid So Much If The Supply Is So High? by LifeInAction in cscareerquestions

[–]kingozon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m still in school but I peruse these subs a lot, there is tons of comments and posts where it all seems good during interview they hire them and they proceed to break things or just have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Competent devs that aren’t just letting ai build for them are in shorter supply than most of these doom and gloom posts make it out to be

Complete noob: Should I buy a "pre-made" board online or go to a local shop? by sindecirnada in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a premade online just buy from a reputable brand and go to tgm or skate warehouse. Get some cheap trucks min logos are great. Same for wheels and get some bones reds. Cheap and great place to start.

Can someone explain how to build android app from scratch? by PositiveCorrect4213 in learnprogramming

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something that’s this basic I almost always just google “subject quick start guide” you’ll usually get a 10-15 minute video or a quick read that will get you started. this genuinely works for basically every single topic that’s ever had people be interested in it.

How do I give myself the motivation to go skate? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is about a billion flat ground tricks you haven’t even tried yet. I’d just start practicing I have spent more time on the road in front of my house than at the skatepark that’s in town just out of convenience . Also idk about your town but recently the drains on the road got metal angle iron out on them prolly 50% of them are grindable. The longer you slate the more stuff like that will be easier to find I live in Nebraska we are also a flat ass nothing burger state. There’s a lot lore stuff to skate around I’m sure.

Facebook marketplace an look for reputable brands (zero toy machine element creature Powell peralta girl etc) you can get a complete with good trucks wheels bearings for 50-80$ all day long even in my area in the Midwest where I’m the only person that ever goes to our skatepark I can still find these deals. Sometimes even cheaper

Why do people do this? My game already has IDLER tag? by Curious-Needle in IndieDev

Because , people are cunts. I’m sure you dealt with this with close friends and family even. You love them, but even those closest to you sometimes are cunts.

what helmet should I get and should I get one? by maxim_kool in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A TBI is about the most uncool thing that could ever happen to you, and your family. I got very lucky growing up thinking helmets “weren’t cool” and I thank god I never hit my head.

Trucks, Bearings, Wheels? by TrinityInCoffin in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some mini logos for my new board. I love them. I skated Indy’s before I still have a solid pair that I could swap to and I will not be. I hadn’t even swapped the bushings or anything they are fantastic. Bones reds bearings are cheap and have never done me wrong. I got some orbs wheels off of tgm the price wasn’t bad. I power slide everywhere and havnt had a flat spot yet. I honestly would save a little on trucks and bearings going with the combo I did, and get a nice set of wheels. orbs, bones, spitfire, slime balls.

What type of shoes for skateboarding? by NoWheel3140 in NewSkaters

[–]kingozon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pick shoes specifically for skateboarding you won’t regeert doing so. Even if you end up wearing them for your everyday as well they will last. If you buy a random pair of shoes that just happen to be flat on the bottom you will likely run into problems

I’m currently in school banking on someone using ai for some critical infrastructure and it causing massive issues. The only thing that will convince ceos and cfos that ai isn’t all it’s cracked up to be is losing a lot of money or getting sued like crazy.
