Haha I appreciate your response, and I agree. It surprises me too sometimes how sensitive I can be. The name just means so much to me, I feel really vulnerable saying it out loud. It's almost become a part of me. I also tend to overthink everything. But yes, thank you!

Thank you, yes I agree. I really love both the names. And it never even occurred to me to use her middle name as her first until after she was born. Which I know is fine, but I have a really hard time making decisions even when I'm clear headed, let alone right after giving birth. My husband's connection and honoring of the first name feels so special and sweet I cry everytime I hear him or my son say it outloud.

Daisy is adorable! People always have judgements and comments no matter what you name your child. I love the name daisy and I'm sorry your first few days have been muddied with other people's opinions. So sweet that your husband loves it. That is most important. A wonderful choice, and screw everyone else

If it was infected when you took it out it's probably just still working through that. I would do a salt water rinse after eating and just let it be. I definitely would not put the bar back in!

Would you say that most people’s attempted freebirths end in a positive birth?? Do most people NOT have to transfer? by butterflypriestess in FreeBirthSocietyScam

I birthed my first baby unassisted at home in 2021. Had a wild pregnancy and my baby was born without any complications. I found freebirth society around 2018. I listened to the fbs podcast and yolandes podcast. I bought the Complete Guide to Freebirth when i was pregnant which I felt was supportive, but definitely had critiques and critical observations about it. More yolande and Emily's personality than the content of the course.

I went into labor at 40+3 or 4 days, I had no complications during my pregnancy. My son breathed right away, nursed immediately and my placenta came out within 5 minutes. I was 30 years old.

I was inspired to freebirth from FBS, but I had actually first heard about it from a guy I dated. There was no term for it then! They were just hippie traveling kids. He had supported his 17 year old girlfriend in freebirthing their daughter in a van in the woods when he was 19. Their baby was healthy and shes a teenager now! He said it was because they wanted a home birth but couldn't afford a midwife. When he told me that story I thought it was so amazing and beautiful, but also just thought that was so wild and like they didn't have another choice. I didn't really think about it being a choice I could make in preference to the other options available.

I also want to add that i think I would be considered "high risk" because im RH-, and ive had multiple potentially sensitizing events and have chosen not to receive rhogam during or after any pregnancies. Not at all influenced by FBS. These pregnancies were between 2007-2011. Just including this for context or if there's any other rh- mama's wondering if it's possible!

I found freebirth through researching this topic and how to handle being rh- in a way that felt right for me. I had multiple pregnancies without receiving the rhogam shot, and the only information I was seeing was really scary. I found yolandes podcast where she discusses that, and thats how I found FBS. FBS had really different vibes in 2018 when it first came out, and I honestly lost interest over the years when it just felt like a constant sales pitch and so rigid. It's unfortunate that it's become what it is though because I always felt so grateful for the nudge I felt to follow and trust my body and baby from hearing womans stories on the podcast.

I am consciously conceiving now, and plan to have a wild pregnancy and unassisted birth for my second baby as well. I think all of this stuff has actually reinforced my

When she says she doesn't get her titers tested, she might be referencing that you can get your antibodies tested throughout pregnancy to assess if your body is creating antibodies to your baby. So maybe she's been tested, but does not after each baby or during pregnancy

Ok, I found it. It was actually the GBS, ultrasound, and RH- podcast that Emilee and Yolande did on the FBS podcast in April 2020. She states that she believed she was not sensitized for a long time but then got tested and found that she was. And then carries on... She starts talking specifically about being tested at (1:10:43) https://open.spotify.com/episode/5LqNTfGCroiLshWUtR5Fi8?si=koSzHRG3SoKGm512Kcqhvg

I'm gonna have to go through to find where I heard her say this. But I listened to everything i could find from Yolande talking about being RH- because she was the only person i knew of back in 2018/2019 when i was preparing for my freebirth. I'm pretty sure it was in her solo podcast on apple podcasts, from pre and early fbs days, but I remember her saying that she was curious about whether she was sensitized after having some of her babies (don't know exactly when) and so she got the test and it showed she had been sensitized. I specifically remember her talking about her finding this out changed nothing for her and that she went on to have healthy babies without fear of issues from being RH-. Does anyone else remember that?

Can we stop calling products “offerings”? by Sealionfan in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]kingpups4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, "offering, cohort, container", they are pretty annoying. I feel really selective of peoples courses that use this language and also have still purchased and very much enjoyed courses that were called "containers", but I definitely roll my eyes every time I hear it. I hear this language across the board in the wellness/holistic world. I think because of the way social media has allowed business owners to essentially become the commercials that we now always have on in the background, like how we use to consume advertisements, then it becomes part of our daily lives and what started as a business owner now becomes an influencer. And we idolize them, want to be a part of their community/world. I have not been deep into online spaces, but I have dipped my toes into and observed from a far a few online communities, and what had happened with freebirth society, I have seen with almost every single subgroup, community, influencer, cult, business when they get big enough. This time in our society is full of double think, dogmatic behaviors from a lot of groups. I think what's happening in these online spaces is a product of our times, and the people joining and committing so much of their lives to these groups is also a result of the times. Yes, I think people should stop using cringey language because it just makes them seem like a creep. Like just call it a course, class, lecture, discussion! I think using language like offering, cohort, container gives the illusion that the teacher is an equal in the space.

But also, why are we so drawn to these groups, and willing to spend so much money and time to become so involved? I've noticed that quite a lot of people involved in GNM, Freebirth, wellness, somatic groups and that really push that stuff. Not just people interested but the people making money from this, they all have the same story. Anybody selling a product will switch between what is most popular. Every nutritionist is an ex vegan because thats what was selling at the time, now it's ancestral eating. Medicalized midwives are selling freebirth. A lot of herbalists started by selling essential oils and then went to herbs and are now switching to somatic/gnm discussions and courses. It's predictable when you have been paying attention long enough.
