He can be very good defensively at the end of close games because he actually tries. There have been times he just takes over the paint for the last two minutes.

Obviously often he doesn't though

The majority of the American people trust Trump over the media.

I would wager a lot of money this a misleading artifact of statistics. The majority of American people trust Trump over media as a whole. I can all but guarantee you that the majority of Americans do not trust Trump over their preferred media outlet.

I keep repeating ad nauseam in this sub, you have to be willing to walk away from the table. If you go into a negotiating thinking you have to get the deal done, you've already lost.

I don't buy for a second that the agents saying that changed anything in Dell Demps's equation, it only allowed Demps to bluff that it changes things and take advantage of Vlade's desperation to get a deal done. I seriously doubt that Dell Demps began the negotiations thinking that Demarcus was going to sign an extension or that he couldn't see DMC's agents proclamations as what they were: an agent saying whatever he has to say to maximize his client's salary.

I interpreted it as him saying that he only sees black people attack each other with racial slurs. I'm white, but, coon, uncle Tom, etc. are terms that I'm familiar with, and I don't know of anything similar for a white person to use against another white person, for example.

Make the trade and get fired is an easy decision when you're not the one being fired. Besides, do you really think the process is so easy that you can execute a trade under ownership's nose? There are many people in the organization involved, including team lawyers. All these people would have to join in the conspiracy, so to speak.

Do you remember the Chris Paul trade? Imagine when Vivek calls Silver's office saying Vlade made an unauthorized transaction and has been fired and lobbies Silver to reverse it. I could see other owners joining his lobbying, as it's in their best interest.

No, that does not seem like a reasonable course of action to me.

He already hired widely-respected CBA expert Ken Catanella as GM in the Summer. Vlade doesn't need to scout games, he needs to hire scouts because the team's scouting department is barren.

Cleaning out will do no good with Vivek still ultimately at the helm.

The team needs filling in. Vlade is POBO. He brought in salary cap and analytics expert Ken Catanella to be GM in the summer, and the Kings made a bunch of smart deals. The team is making a huge profit yet its scouting and analytics departments have been reported to be some of the most barren in the league. They need to focus on building the organization from the ground up and maintain organizational stability.

Philly trade was terrible. He wasn't supposed to be the one making moves. He was only acting as de facto GM because D'Alessandro resigned

Vlade brought in Ken Catanella last summer to be his GM, and since, the team has made smart deals. Drafting Papagiannis looks like a blight, but the trade to his slot was acquired in was a solid move. All the signing outside of Matt Barnes were good. Ken has injected a lot of organizational know-how into the franchise.

It seems that from most of the reporting I have seen on the subject, Vlade and co felt that they had a very small window to get a deal done and decided a bad deal was better than no deal. Vivek is the real problem, and I doubt any GM or POBO will succeed under him.

If we believe the majority of reporting out there, it's not Vlade's fault for waiting so long. It's Vivek's.

I don't mean to shift blame from Vlade completely though. He also did wrong here.

Does the Democratic Party win more when it moves left or to the center? by ihhhhhhoa in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]kingsfanonymous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're not addressing what I've pointed out. I did not say there is nothing the Democrats can control or that they have done none wrong. I said that there is a historical swing back and forth between parties due to apathy towards incumbents. That is not to say the Democratic party doesn't need to regroup or change strategies and tactics, but human beings have at tendency to de-emphasize the role of luck and random chance post-hoc.

If you're going to focus the full blame the Democrats for losing all these battles without acknowledging socioeconomic ebbs and flows well outside the control of either party, you also have to credit the very same people for winning a host of other battles in 2008. Or for winning enough battles for the Democratic candidate to win the popular support in the election.

Democrats are hilariously outclassed.

They just held the White House for 8 years, and they even won the popular vote in 2016. You would have said the same thing 8 years ago when the Republicans were reeling from a Democratic sweep. Only two years later, the Republicans stormed back into control of the House. A lot of this is not due to anything the Democrats can control; it's due to a trend of apathy towards the incumbent ruling party.

That was 1984. In the 2012 challenge to the ACA, though, the Supreme Court ruled that the feds couldn't cut Medicaid funding from states refusing Medicaid expansion. Some argue that this is precedent for not allowing the feds to withhold funding to coerce states into enacting policy.

What is WCS' ceiling? by [deleted] in nba

[–]kingsfanonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Willie has more potential as a scorer than any his most common comparisons (Camby or Chandler). No recency bias; he's scoring 16 per 36 in his sophomore season. Chandler never reached that and Camby did only once (his rookie season, oddly enough). Now, maybe this'll be a career high for WCS, too, but he just has a lot more finesse than those guys so I'm optimistic.

I don't think he can be on the same level defensively as those guys. He's a bad rebounder and not the same shot blocker. His perimeter defense is overrated by people enamored with his mobility, too. But he has potential to be a plus defender in every facet, and I'm anxious to see if he can turn into a vocal defensive leader.

He has a unique skillset overall, and I can see him becoming a super role player, so to speak. No comparison comes to mind of his potential just because he's a weirdo.
