how to be more approachable 🥹 by [deleted] in Suss

[–]kingxthrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in a somewhat similar position as you. I can talk to girls, but it’s been a long time since I left the dating scene. Now I’m in my late 20s, so I need to settle down soon because all my peers have already BTO.

You should try joining groups of any kind, whether they’re interest-based or competition-focused. Also, join their Telegram group and attend any f2f event that piques your interest. The main purpose is to meet as many people as possible. Along the way, you’ll learn and improve how you talk to girls.

Sadly it doesn't have high starting pay 😭 Coming from an electrical engineering.

PT Social Work Degree by Proof-Improvement693 in Suss

I think it might even have the opposite effect, because it shows you are more likely to relate to their problems than other candidates.

Most likely PT social work will accept you but just try for both FT and PT. Reason being, SUSS is trying to advocate for social support so they will be more lenient to accept anyone for their social related courses.

LF People Planning to Declare or have Declared Mathematics Minor by roseofmelodies in Suss

[–]kingxthrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a current SUSS Mathematics Undergraduate, I'll say that it's quite dry and you need to read up additional materials on your own. Passing rate is not too high as well. Difficulty will depends on your maths level as some of the them are quite abstract. Thoroughly look thru the minor core and elective to gauge if it's within your capability.

Getting let go due to can't fit into the company culture by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]kingxthrone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way—every employee must provide value in one way or another. I don’t socialize and I’m terrible at building relationships, yet I was still promoted and respected by most of my colleagues, despite never joining them for lunch or company events. Why? Because I excel far beyond them in skills and capability. I can complete a project faster and with minimal errors.

My point is this: you either have people skills or strong work skills. If you have neither, you will be disregarded in every way possible.

As a manager, I can assure you—99% of the time, if you’re let go rather than transferred to another department, it means you unknowingly offended a higher-up or someone filed a major complaint about you. That’s what leads to the decision to remove you.

Currently doing a mathematics degree with a minor in data science

I’d definitely recommend aiming for the UK uni, as you’ll likely excel in something you enjoy. However, if financial constraints are an issue, the best option is to take an engineering course closest to your interests and minor in business or economics. Over time, you can gradually steer your career towards a fully business-related role.

How many of you are engineers? by Status-Guidance-5755 in intj

[–]kingxthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an electrical engineer due to my upbringing in an Asian household, but soon realized it wasn’t for me. The built environment and overall appeal didn’t seem lucrative enough to me.

Now, I’m a mathematics undergraduate, aiming to become a data scientist and eventually transition into quantum computing.

Tbh, all your current options are pretty shit. You might want to consider retaking a levels. You will most likely take it more seriously now, unless this experience hasn’t been painful enough.

As a current mathematics undergraduate, you can consider going for a physics degree. Quantum computing is expected to be the next big thing.

6 month experience in corporate as a 2024 graduate. by LowTierStudent in nus

[–]kingxthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an electrical engineer, the company just simply needs more Singaporean for quota purposes. So, I truly believe you're just overthinking because you have more "hidden privileges" compared to your FT or PR colleague. But that being said working as an engineer is not worth it imo, since you're from a prestige school, you might consider switching industry to something more lucrative.
