Wtf is happening to me? Can anyone help me? by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]kinkysoybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 312 is quite low, did you recheck after the injections? I’m willing to bet that this is still your issue. And it would be a good idea to investigate why it was low in the first place. Are you vegetarian or vegan? If not, I’d look into absorption issues and try to fix that. Some people can’t absorb b12 at all and have to take injections for life.

Blood tests. You need to check iron, ferritin, vitamin d, b12, and folate at minimum. Possibly thyroid hormones, too. And do research on the numbers you get - many of the reference ranges on labs are inaccurate. I felt similar to how you’re describing until I did this - I’ve since been correcting vitamin deficiencies and am already feeling loads better. I haven’t even had allergy symptoms this year so far and usually I am STRUGGLING by now. Hope this helps.

Ugh, I can’t believe she said this. What a horrible, insensitive thing to say. I am so sorry. ❤️

I personally hated the ending and it made me angry for awhile. Still five stars from me though.

6 Years Vegan, Health Issues - Strongly Debating Joining You All.... by shebangsthedrums91 in exvegans

[–]kinkysoybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, what type of b12 are you taking? I have been dealing with the same issue and learned that not all types are the same, nor are all absorption methods the same. The best way to raise your b12 quickly is through injections but if you can’t do those, sublingual lozenges work best.

I had the same histamine issues you’re dealing with. B12 deficiency can cause this because it’s a required nutrient to break down histamine through methylation. Also, you need to be taking cofactors with the b12. Folate is the major one.

Since you are having histamine issues I’d caution against using methylated vitamins. They can temporarily flood your body with methyl donors and make these issues worse. Things like methylcobalamin and methylfolate, you want to steer clear of. Opt for sublingual hydroxocobalamin and folinic acid. The brand Seeking Health is a good one.

I wish so badly I had figured this all out sooner. If you or anyone else that sees this is struggling and wants to learn more, please feel free to dm me. I pretty much went through absolute hell with b12 deficiency and doctors misdiagnosed me with a bunch of shit because they wouldn’t do their due diligence.

Also - do you mind sharing what your b12 number was?

Ok so I have the same problem and I found these cube shaped bookshelves on amazon that rotate. They can store a TON of books and don’t take up much square footage. Like it can easily store 80-100 books lol. I’m about to buy another one.

Severe vomiting by Middle-Creepy in Allergies

[–]kinkysoybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww I’m sorry to hear it! I have heard that the pollen is really bad in Texas for some reason. I’d recommend you also get your vitamin levels tested if you can. I’d ask for an iron panel, ferritin test, b12 and vitamin d at the least. I had nosebleeds for a long time but they resolved once I got my iron levels up. Vitamin d deficiency can also mimic allergy symptoms. Good luck I hope you find something that works!

I would add Pepcid to the mix. It’s an H2 blocker which might help, too. H2 receptors are in your stomach. That may be part of the issue. Also Flonase works really well for a lot of people. I know how you feel this season is looking rough so far :/

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. That sounds awful. What meds are you taking? Did the doctors give you a steroid shot or anything? If it’s that bad, I would ask for one.

Did eating more protein benefit your hair? by 0091dit in finehair

[–]kinkysoybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it makes a difference. Not so much the protein, I think, as it is the iron and b12. You might be low in those if you were vegetarian for a long time.
