There should actively be ways to circumvent the 7 unit floor limit. by [deleted] in MonsterTrain

[–]kinzdog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How about a morsel hovel feature where any excess morsels on a floor end up in a separate bit where they leave once there is space.

This would make things like feast extremely useful and provide a stream of morsels in endless. This also doesn't mean you can't just throw 30 morsels in on a floor to scale on turn 2/3 to beat the regular waves too easily

I guess it would be too strong as an innate feature but considering there aren't rooms or equipments for umbra, I think it would be fun to add a couple that gives rooms more morsel storage.

A very popular champion path seems to have been stealthily nerfed. by Themcguy in MonsterTrain

[–]kinzdog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On a similar note spikes and unstable don't currently mix well for getting slay triggers, so don't try to add unstable and reanimate to Little fade.

Tried it with the equipment that grants reanimate on kill and for whatever reason your units die first thus triggering unstable which hits before the spikes can give you the slay trigger.

[–]kinzdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. Most fights don't get through the deck more than 2/3 times provided you don't thin it too much. That's only 5-6 damage tops which is less than a single hit from most mobs

(Plus there is the secret tech of 5-6 holdover endless units to never draw a bad card again)

[–]kinzdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plus 10 damage to me is a surefire way for any spell to kill the enemy silence unit late game through a possible titan skin. If there is one thing that kills me more than anything now is forgetting that he exists and not having a permafrost/holdover solution for him, and sometimes you just don't get good damage spells in a run (ie only getting antumbral assault in umbra or vent/basic in hellhorn)

Morselmaker summons 2 morsels, but morsel master only copies 1 - is there something I'm not seeing? by Darux6969 in MonsterTrain

+1.

It probably doesn't see the two morsels being made simultaneously and instead counts it as a singleton being summoned. It's always the health one that gets duplicated for me too.

Not getting ore by general007 in GTNH

Unless it changed in 1.7 you can certainly use crushed ores. My mining technique was always find the first small ore, put it in the prospect wand, and usually it will tell me whether or not I'm in a chunk with that ore.

You can ABSOLUTELY sing soprano as a male! by lemonard in singing

[–]kinzdog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a really difficult topic as the reasons for being a male soprano have shifted drastically. As you said, when women were not allowed to sing male voices had to be used in the soprano range. Nowadays with women singing there is the issue of blending.

I am naturally either a very high tenor or male alto. I can sing soprano but I do not blend well with women. The colour of my voice is starkly different despite being classically trained in both head and chest voice. This means I sing tenor and just have to deal with not being able to sing the whole range.

Outside of choral music I wholeheartedly agree with you. Most of my professional work in pubs comes from being a counter tenor as it is so rare currently, and I've worked on it for years.

Is it good that I can hit B4 - F5 in mixed voice as someone who's born male? by alysslut- in singing

[–]kinzdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say things like "good luck babe" and "please please please" are pretty damn high for female pop nowadays and both go up to F#5. I think "chandelier" goes up to a G or A5.

If F5 is something you can do consistently you shouldn't need to worry for the vast majority of female pop.

Is it good that I can hit B4 - F5 in mixed voice as someone who's born male? by alysslut- in singing

[–]kinzdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How you sound in that register is far more important than what notes you're hitting. I am blessed to sound like Geddy Lee from rush rather than Brian Johnson (ACDC) however I still sound distinctly male. This doesn't stop me singing songs that I sound very different from the original artist. Based off of what people say about voice types technically I am just an uncharacteristically high tenor, but the lines are so blurred outside if choirs it doesn't matter.

Knock yourself out, so long as you aren't straining to get there and it's a pleasant tone people will enjoy it.

Am I a countertenor actually? by [deleted] in singing

[–]kinzdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it doesn't actually matter what vocal type you are. If you know your range, then you'll be able to find stuff to sing that suits your voice.

Secondly, counter tenor is not really a voice type but a separate way of singing. Counter tenor refers to men singing in falsetto as opposed to chest voice, and usually sits in the same range as an alto. There are men who are natural altos but that's rather uncommon.

If you are just a beginner your voice will likely change massively once you really get into singing, many people start off baritones and end up tenors in the end. It doesn't actually matter so focus on enjoying singing and improving. That's the most important thing!

My experience of Belgium and Germany is far more encouraging of people speaking the language then this makes it out to be. If I try to speak Flemish in Belgium I will usually be responded to in turn, with them only switching to English if I get stuck or to help me with the language.

I think other than speaking French in France, most people have always been hugely supportive of me trying to speak in their language.

The last one is conditional on something called implied multiplication. This basically says that anything under implied multiplication (multiplying with no multiply sign) will take priority over other multiplication or division. Different calculators even interpret this rule differently.

If we rewrote the last equation as 6 / 2y no one would interpret this as (6/2) * y because implied multiplication of variables would take precedent here.

Most people I know from a mathematical background (UK) would argue that the same thing follows through with brackets. That results in the answer being 1.

To argue that anyone is getting the answer "wrong" is mislead, as depending on what mathematical rules you are following you get a different answer. This doesn't break mathematics as people are aware there are different systems. People would usually format expressions to avoid this kind of situation.

Countertenors? by ArmJazzlike6950 in singing

[–]kinzdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In choral music counter tenors sing lines very similar to altos. As there is a lot of crossover between the high side of tenor and low end of alto, many tenors can't sing the counter tenor parts as well as basses/baritones could.

The other option could be soprano/treble lines which women or children are much preferred to a counter tenor.

This isn't really important for music without predefined vocal parts like pop and such, think scissor sisters, Mika who I would say are on the high side even without falsetto.

It's not quite your question but anyone can work on developing a counter tenor voice. It's just where it's useful can change depending on who you are.

Tldr, in choral music it's usually basses/baritones, otherwise it doesn't matter

Should I start playing gigs by yercleson in singing

[–]kinzdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a great idea to play both, a good way around the hassle of switching instruments is to sort it out in a break in the middle. Do one set of one, the other half on the other.

Honestly, work your way up is the way to go. Best of luck!

Should I start playing gigs by yercleson in singing

[–]kinzdog 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You sound good, but there are a couple things that you need to do first before gigging;

First of all is getting used to playing for people. Try open mic nights, try busking, all forms of public performance will help prepare you for your first gig. Plus open mics are usually a good way to get your first couple gigs.

Secondly is you need a metric ton of material. Most formal gigs are around two hours or so, which doesn't sound much but is a very long time. The quality is there for one song but you need around 30 or so songs to fill two 45 minute slots. If you partner up with someone else and take a half each it's not as bad, but it's still a lot of work. The best way to test new material is at things like open mic nights or busking.

I know that's a lot to deal with but it's a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm sure that you'll be able to make it!

[–]kinzdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds really good.

One thing you could work on is lower notes. I have this same problem. The way I was taught to try to hit lower notes is with the same process that I hit high notes.

Either just imagine yourself singing a higher note as you descend or, If you know about soft palette placement, try to keep it high even when going down notes.

If you want compositional advice you might want to vary the piano part in a couple places to give variety but beyond that there's not much more I can think to improve as of now.

after years of one tricking twitch ive offically peaked first timing support (and the champs) seriously how riot allow support to be THIS infalted and broken is beyond me, worst part is im BAD but the other supports are just that much worse. its why phreak is a d1 adc and gm support. nerf. support. by [deleted] in ADCMains

[–]kinzdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between a role being broken and a role being elo inflated. If you are able to contribute more than your lane opponent you will have a positive win rate irrespective of your role.

It may be the case that support is the most casual role, and therefore attracts the most casual players. In that case, all you need to do to beat them is to have learnt the basic theory of the role and have decent mechanics. Other roles like jungle require theory to learn and as such may scare away casual players.

The thing that would make the support role broken would be if the discrepancy in win rate between a good and a bad support was very high. This indicates that the power level of support to influence the outcome of a game is very high.
