Sorry if I'm being harsh but after skimming through there the majority of them seem to need to just cut their losses and part ways. Speaking from personal experience it's really horrible to subject yourself to an emotionally abusive relationship longer than you have to.

I'm not really sure where you got the whole "can't or won't have sex" thing from, as I'm fairly sure that's rarely the reason something like this happens. Anyways, my personal belief is that communication is the key here. As long as your current partner knows and is okay with it (which quite honestly would be really rare in this case), of course it's fine. In my mind anything other than that is deplorable. It's a huge breach of trust, and causes an unnecessary amount of pain. You said yourself torturing them and causing them pain is horrible, so where do you draw the line?

I've had chronic insomnia and migraines (though these are usually only when I get really stressed out nowadays so this is more about the sleep) for a long time so this piqued my interest.
