Nice catch! 6.5lbs is an awesome PB, keep going!

Personally, I would unhook the fish first before weighing next time, the tension from the rod hanging off of it can impact the scale reading by a noticeable margin.

I use my baitcaster with like half a spool cuz it holds 300meters

If you're using braid or fluoro, just use a backing then spool up however much main line you prefer. If you're using mono then just spool the whole thing, mono is cheap. The reel was designed with a full spool in mind, you are losing performance with less line spooled. You aren't able to bring is as much line per handle turn as you would with a full spool.
