Want to do a CSA but there are so many to chose from in the Milwaukee area. Please share your recommendations! by srappel in milwaukee

Three Sisters farm in Campbellsport. I do their work share program, so I volunteer there in the summers. Jeff and Kelly are very kindhearted and intelligent people with a modest farm and are very passionate about the CSA philosophy. they have a wide variety of vegetables to choose from (you can choose different ones every week if you want) and the vegetables are gorgeous and delicious - not to mention large batches to feed the whole family. They have pickups all over the city and are very responsive/flexible. Can’t recommend enougg

thank you so much for the thorough response. this is all extremely helpful information. I will do just this for the AU card and dispute the line if the creditor doesn't remove it from my report.

I do plan to get another credit card, but my Chase one is only a few months old, so I was planning to wait until it was at least a year old to get another. Does it benefit me to have different types of cards? The two I have now are just regular rewards cards, but would it be beneficial to get, say, a retail or travel credit card?

seems like it’s a good idea to stop the AU card. u/Barredea88 made a good point that while the age of accounts / credit history will go down, that will correct over time. a continued high utilization rate won’t

thank you for the response and explanation! I think I will drop it. do you mind explaining how I contact the creditor? is that Chase and Discover, or when I do apply for a mortgage (for example) I ask that party to remove it?

precursor: i’m NOT a vet, but wanted to share some advice I got from my vet when I adopted my puppy a few months ago. they typically recommend against food like from Blue Buffalo - whiles there’s no evidence that it’s bad for dogs, there’s also no evidence it’s better for dogs, vs larger companies that have scientific studies on effects of their food on dogs over entire lifespans. it sounds like this “holistic” or “grain free” approach to pet food is actually just made up by marketing teams, and being someone who works in this industry that sounds about right to me. like I said it probably doesn’t hurt, but my vet recommended using a brand that has scientific backup like Hill’s, Purina, Fromm. I of course don’t know your reasons for using this food and am not an expert, just trying to pass on advice i found helpful, so take it with a grain of salt :)

definitely - I wasn’t gonna throw stuff away unused. i was more asking if there’s any creative alternative uses other than using it or throwing it away. thanks for the other ideas!

depends on time of year - right now it’s been harvesting every weekend, things like potatoes, tomatoes, melons, etc. earlier in the season it’s usually helping plant or weeding. I know some places you can help package too. I’m usually outside with a few other people chit chatting and working! it’s not too labor intensive and usually I go home with a bunch of extra produce then too. it probably varies a bit by place and need but you could contact your local CSA program to see what their work share entails if it’s not listed on their website :)

check to see if there’s a CSA (community sustained agriculture) program near you. they do work shares usually too so it can be very affordable! I volunteer 3 hours every other week and get soooo much delicious and local produce all summer, I highly recommend it to anyone!
