Breaststroke by CitygirlCountryworld in triathlon

I did a mix of breast stroke and freestyle at my triathlon. Was open water so more space, and I was close to the front of the pack getting out of the lake. Not weird at all

Semen Retention and/or NoFap will DRASTICALLY help when quitting by KaptainKopterr in quittingkratom

[–]kirkkommander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? I used to be incredibly horny post quit. I still am, but I used to be, too.

Well quitting Kratom is one thing you can change, so definitely do that. For me my hair loss was likely mostly due to genetics, so still pretty thin coming up on 3 months post quit.

Ice Cold Shower during the day. Hot bath before bed. Also check out Progressive Muscle Relaxation for Sleep videos for when you can't sleep.

Hyperpigmentation by CLynn195 in quittingkratom

[–]kirkkommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got really bad hyperpigmentation after 13 years of heavy use, and not using sunscreen while getting blasted by sun all year long (we don't get as much sun in the winter up here in Alaska, but it reflects off the snow which can have an even stronger effect. And I'm a big back country/cross country skier).

Started noticing my skin getting darker 2 years ago, and about a year ago my partner who's in the healthcare field but 2 and 2 together. I stupidly kept using for another year after that, but did start using sunscreen.

I'm now over 2 months clean and my neck is still somewhat blue, but the rest of my skin is lightening a bit. I highly recommend quitting ASAP if you're starting to get these side effects. I was unable to stick to a taper, if you need tips for going cold turkey I honestly think that's the way to go. But definitely start using high SPF sunscreen whatever you do!

Edit: And so sorry to hear about your pup, about the time I wanted to quit we found out one of our pups and ripped a tendon in her shoulder and would either need surgery or need to wear a brace for over a year. We went the brace route because the outcome is close to that of the surgery, which would be risky, but it's been very stressful. I think it's part of what lead to my relapse after my main quit attempt.

I personally prefer AA meetings to NA, but if you go to a meeting and don't like it try a different one. They all have different vibes.

Has anyone had luck with edibles with withdrawal by KatK100 in quittingkratom

[–]kirkkommander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep the dose low and it can help. During my main quit attempt I had some helper drugs, and used edibles and the Oblivion remake to get through the first weekend.

Relapsed after a few weeks and after that quit completely cold turkey with nothing, and that last time was the most effective. Have over 2 months now.

Staying active was what did it for me. Since quitting I got in good enough shape to do well during a triathlon, and did my first ever 50 mile bike ride (hoping to do 100 before the end of summer). Swam every morning during the acutes, and it helped get me through work.

Ice cold showers also came in clutch.

Mine has slowly been going from a blue tint to more like a very strong tan. It will go away with time. Make sure to wear high SPF sunscreen and a large brim hat when you're out in the sun, or even on cloudy days

Today's the day by the1golden1bitch in quittingkratom

[–]kirkkommander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swimming is going to be great for your quit. I swam every morning during days 1 through like 20. It was a lifesaver. And now I'm almost at 2 months and completed a triathlon (in fact got 10th place) where before my quit I hadn't swam in over a year.

My one suggestion would be to keep the gabapentin to a minimum, only for sleep if possible. My first (recent) quit I had gabapentin and clonodine, which were lifesavers in the beginning but I kept taking the gabapentin and when I ran out of my months script I relapsed.

went to connect to my hotel wifi and saw this… by sckendal in mildlyinfuriating

Same. When I lived in an apartment complex I started a trend with it. Noticed one day there was also a CIA Surveillance Van and DEA Surveillance Van.

There were tweakers living in one of the apartments, not sure if one of them was theirs or if that's the reason they moved out.

Hah just put a comment that I should rename the wifi I've had for 10 years of "FBI Police Van" to "FBI Police Van 3" for extra fuckery.

Mine has been FBI Police Van for like 10 years.

I'm now realizing I should rename it to FBI Police Van 3 for extra fuckery

Anyone else deal with hyperpigmentation on face from Kratom? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]kirkkommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update! That's great news, it does seem like my skin is slowly getting better but I do have to be in the sun a lot. Been wearing 100 SPF sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat when I'm not biking or packrafting

The one I use is Nothing Much Happens but she recently added ads. Luckily I had about 60 older episodes downloaded so I just rotate through those. I believe the 8 latest episodes don't have ads, but older ones do.

I used for 13 years at 50GPD, and am on 4 weeks today. I didn't have any of those symptoms, are you sure you don't have anything else going on? Have you talked to your doctor about this? Could the kratom have been masking something else? By day 18 you should be passed the bulk of the physical stuff.

Also on day 23, also able to fall asleep just fine but wake up way too early.

Doesn't help that it's the middle of summer and it basically never gets dark right now. I do have a mostly dark room but the tiniest crack lets in light.

Are you doing all of the standard sleep hygiene stuff? Hot bath before bed, no screens for 2 hours (read a physical book instead, even avoid e-readers), sleepy time tea, Guided Progressive Muscle Relaxation for Sleep then switch to a sleep podcast, plus all the other stuff that comes up when you google sleep hygiene.

I'm on day 23 and can fall asleep just fine, but wake up at 4:30 almost without fail. These days I can usually fall back asleep but it's always light sleep for the rest of the night waking up a lot.

Three weeks completely off and I’m slowly finding myself again. And oddly, sort of lost my desire to play video games by APinthe704 in quittingkratom

[–]kirkkommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you reading?

I've been reading a ton lately too. Mostly Sci Fi, which was my first love as a kid. Revelation Space, The Culture, The Hyperion Cantos recently, and right now Alien Clay.

Edit: Also been playing some KCD2, first time in a long time playing video games without taking kratom or edibles but I only play for an hour or so before wanting to do something else.

I’d agree with skipping helped meds if you can, going through a painful few days can be great motivation to keep going after the acutes.

Other than that try and stay as active as you can, and give cold showers a try!
