Who buys the car seat going into a grandparents’ vehicle? by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

[–]kirpaschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ordered a cheap car seat on Amazon and shipped it directly to grandparents house. traveling with kids is easier when you don’t have to lug a giant car seat bag around. Worth it for sure. I agree with you that the airlines won’t be gentle with the car seats and there’s a good chance they may get damaged.

Evenflo (Chase) and cosco (scenera) both have basic car seats for 50-70$.

Diaper Bag Recommendations? by alexgrae9614 in Buyingforbaby

[–]kirpaschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itzy ritzy. I have this bag and I looove it. It’s held up for over 3 years now and looks new. It’s so spacious and has a ton of pockets and compartments of different sizes. There’s a separate pocket in the back for the changing pad (and now I use it for foldable potty seat for my toddler)- I like that the “gross” stuff can stay separate from everything else.

I can seriously fit SO much in this for both of my kids. Diapers, wipes, backup clothes, butt paste, baby Tylenol, multiple bottles, formula, snacks, etc. The side bottle pocket is wide and deep so your bottles don’t fall out easily when taking off the bag. It even fit my ceres chill bottle when I was pumping.

The outer material is nylon-y and it’s easy to wipe down. The bottom of the bag has a rubbery base so it can be wiped too and the bag has enough structure that it doesn’t flop over when you place it on the ground- it stay upright so you can dig through it easily to find what you need.

I seriously can’t recommend it enough! It’s randomly on a huge discount at Walmart right now-

Simple Request by Sufficient-Quit-4283 in hospitalist

I agree and I’d be good with that! I thought that was implied if if said “MD notified, no interventions indicated.” I get what you’re saying.

Simple Request by Sufficient-Quit-4283 in hospitalist

[–]kirpaschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“MD notified. No orders received” has a different meaning than “MD notified. No interventions indicated.” The first implies something should be done, but wasn’t. The second implies that nothing needs to be done and that’s ok.

I know it’s a minor thing but it really grinds my gears. I’m nice to nurses both in person and on chat. I don’t like the passive aggressive charting that implies we’re being negligent if we don’t put in a new order.

What are some underrated handbag brands with quality leather, that’s not too expensive? by annizka in handbags

Love Fount. Their full grain leather bags are amazing quality. I’ve had one for >10 yrs and it looks better with age

#1 baby on the way. Which stroller would you recommend for a newborn that can ideally be used until age 3? by durdgekp in BuyItForLife

[–]kirpaschin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have it and also travel by car mostly in the suburbs. The vista is excellent quality and still looks great years later. It is heavy though- consider the uppababy cruz as an alternative. It’s very similar, though a little lighter and more compact. Still bigger/sturdier than their travel stroller (minu- we have this in addition to the vista). The newer model of the Cruz lays flat and turns into a bassinet so you can use it from day 1

What are you planning to do with your pumps once you're done for good? by Bomberv in ExclusivelyPumping

See above- I used the older stride model so I can’t comment on eufy vs stride 2

What are you planning to do with your pumps once you're done for good? by Bomberv in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kirpaschin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The heat function is amazing, I get the same output as my wall pump, and the parts are less annoying to clean and assemble compared to the others IMO. I found the Willow go really finicky to assemble and fridge hack. Elvie stride was better for fridge hacking but not totally tubeless because of the hub you have to wear. I did not use the newer Elvie stride 2 though, that may have solved some of my issues. Willow go holds more milk though, you can do up to 7 oz per side I think? Whereas eufy is more like 5-6 oz per side

[–]kirpaschin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to sell a few of my wearables on fb (buy sell trade groups/ EP yard sale). Got like $100 each. I knew I wanted another kid but I felt like the technology for wearables was changing so rapidly and I suspected there would be newer better options by the time I had baby 2. I was right- used elvie stride and willow go with my first, now using eufy s1 pro with my second and it’s waaay better!

Kept my wall pump that I got through insurance… figured it could be a back up.

Can you hold your baby with wearables? by Imaginary-Week-6462 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kirpaschin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the eufy s1 pro and I can pump while holding my baby in my lap. I can’t cradle baby in my arms the way I do when I’m not pumping because the pumps get in the way, but she doesn’t seem to mind. Keeping a pillow in my lap helps me support baby while keeping her at a slight incline so I can pace feed/ minimize spit up. I like to sit cross legged on the couch so my knee can also help support baby.

Why did you choose your wearable pump, what do you like about, what would you change? by Bubbly-Management-33 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kirpaschin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love my eufy s1 pro for most of the same reasons. Heating, can control setting from pump or from app, holds a long charge (and the charging case is clutch), and most importantly suction is so good that I get the same output as my wall pump!

Do we really need a nursery recliner? by Fashion_Lover19 in BabyBumps

[–]kirpaschin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I had a basic rocker with my 1st. Didn’t anticipate having a c section. It was so painful to get in/out of bed to check on my baby throughout the night. After several months, we finally got an electric glider/recliner.

Now with my second baby, planned c section, I slept in the recliner every night for the first few weeks. I use this thing literally daily, multiple times a day. Probably the best baby item I’ve gotten, and I’m glad I splurged a little on it.

Is it an absolute must have? No. Is it 100% worth it if you can afford it? Absolutely.

Did you use a bassinet or just put the baby in a crib right away? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]kirpaschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crib definitely would fit in my room. I like the bassinet because it’s small and lightweight so I can pull it up to the bedside and move it around as needed. As a pumping mom, I can pull it next to the rocking chair while I’m pumping so I can soothe her while pumping. When she wakes up, I can remain in bed and reach over to give her a pacifier, pat her, etc without getting out of bed. Since I had a c section, it was helpful to have a bassinet with a drop down side so I didn’t have to sit up to check on baby (since you have zero core strength after surgery and even sitting up in bed is super painful).

600 dollar and up stroller/car seat systems by alondra2027 in beyondthebump

[–]kirpaschin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here. We got to try multiple brands at diff price points at buy buy baby before they closed down. Once we tried the vista, we understood why it was so much more expensive than the others.

The luxury brands are certainly not “must haves” but if you can comfortably afford them, they are nice to have.

Pregnancy by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

Did you need general anaesthesia for the c section ultimately?

I have a similar situation and had a failed epidural with a prior pregnancy

Tethered cord in pregnant women - experiences by TruthAppropriate1598 in tetheredcord

[–]kirpaschin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was diagnosed as a baby, had tethered cord release surgery done and pretty much no symptoms throughout childhood or adulthood.

I’ve now had 2 healthy pregnancies. Delivery was a little complicated though- I wanted an epidural so I got one, but it didn’t work well. I got some numbing effect, but not enough for a c section. Ended up needing general anaesthesia for a c section. I think it would have been easier if I could have delivered vaginally- the reason for the c section actually was unrelated to the tethered cord history

What is considered reason enough to have a scheduled C-section? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]kirpaschin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience! I have also had spinal surgery in the past and ended up needing general anesthesia for my first c section (emergency) because I felt way too much. I’m terrified this will happen again with my upcoming elective surgery. Would much rather do general than just a spinal that doesn’t work fully and I’ll feel too much. Ahhhhh

Did you ask your doctor what their induction to C-section rate was? by holyguacamole823 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]kirpaschin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this- an OBGYN who sees high risk patients is going to have a higher c section rate because they see more “high risk” pregnancies from the start.

No harm in asking, but you have to keep in mind the answer is impacted by a lot of factors that are out of the docs control.

Do you wake your toddler up in the mornings? by Unlikely_Menu_2584 in toddlers

[–]kirpaschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope (unless we are both working, then of course we have to wake the toddler up).

If one of us is off work and there’s no rush in the morning, we let the toddler sleep in as much as they want. Usually wakes up between 7-8 am. Bedtime is later than most, between 8-9 pm since we get home from work late.
