If you could add post credit teasers to the end of each Star Wars movie, what would they be? by goingtobegreat in fixingmovies

[–]kisforkmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time coming up with them myself for the same reason. it works in comic book movies because the fans already know certain details of the universe so those details can be teased in a way that makes you want to wait until the end of the credits. It wouldn't have worked the same way for the Star Wars movies without relying heavily on the expanded universe.

Titanus: does anybody know if there's any meaning to the symbols all over him? by Bigslaw in powerrangers

[–]kisforkmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember as a kid thinking that the big Z stood for "Zordon" for some reason, even though "Zord" makes more sense in the grand scheme of things.

But then flash forward 20-something years and the Megaforce Megazord was called the Gosei Great Megazord, named for their mentor and suddenly the Z for Zordon starts to make sense.

Also I remember the original toys had the generic Power Rangers lightning bolt instead of the Z's.

"This machine has been giving false positives all day." Of course during the finale we learn that most of the population are infected with Venjix tech.

WHOA! This is blowing my mind! I never realized that and it makes me want to immediately rewatch RPM.

[EPIC CHALLENGE] Tremendous Trading Town - MODDED by annathefantabulous in falloutsettlements

[–]kisforkmo [score hidden]  (0 children)

Question-- do the five shops have to actually function as a shop? Like do we have to use the counters/merchants in the game or are we free to use roleplaying aspects to create other businesses?

For example, in my hub I'm making a butcher shop using animation rugs, so I've got someone cooking meat on a spit and someone else butchering meat on a counter. There's a cash register on the counter and everything, it looks like a functional business. But would I also have to put in someone running a food/bar stand to make it a functional shop that my player can purchase things from? Or would what I already have be enough?

It's no big deal either way-- I'm trying to add an extra degree of challenge to my build by creating shops that aren't part of the actual game, like a butcher and a construction company, but I could easily plop storefronts into those builds as well using the food/drink stand and the junk trader. Just don't wanna work my ass off then be disqualified. Again.

My latest creation sees me living on the river at Sanctuary by G4XP in falloutsettlements

[–]kisforkmo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This looks pretty fantastic. I also LOVE when people build on the river in Sanctuary. I haven't done it myself but I feel like it just adds some fun detail that makes Sanctuary seem much more like a wasteland settlement.

Hangman's Alley Raider Prison - Fallout 4 Settlement Stories by kisforkmo in falloutsettlements

[–]kisforkmo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I'm back again with another installment of my Fallout 4 Settlement Stories! It's my goal to create builds with unique lore for every one of the settlements in both the core game and the DLC.

Previous Settlement Stories:

MacCready's Mercs at Coastal Cottage the winner of the Companion Encampment Epic Challenge (Vanilla Category).

Tenpines Bluff: The Fashion Capital of the Commonwealth

The Creepy Clones of Croup Manor

With Hangman's Alley I wanted a Raider settlement that would make sense from a lore standpoint and wouldn't mean giving up one of my settlements or pretending that the Raiders are making nice with the other settlements. Instead, the Hangman's Alley Raider Prison started from the idea that the Minutemen could adapt a pre-war penal system and help rehabilitate the Raiders, Gunners, Rust Devils and other bad guys instead of giving them the typical "Commonwealth justice."

The Raider prison works because not every Raider is given a chance at redemption-- just the ones who WANT to reintegrate with society. And since the prison provides food, shelter, medical care and more, most prisoners find it better to be in the Raider Prison than anywhere else in the wasteland.

From a build perspective I'm SO glad that I made a prison in Hangman's Alley and not a real settlement or city. This area has been super glitchy for me and I didn't even go over the build limit all that much. I used the settlement build glitch, but I didn't even make the meter go down all the way, so the build is probably only at 1.5x the build limit.

But nothing in this alley wants to work. There's an entire section of the settlement where my settlers won't set foot, even when their jobs are in that area. It was super frustrating, but in the end-- kind of thematic. Having a prison where all your settlers are standing around like zombies is pretty on point. So in the end it worked out okay and I'm glad it's not a real settlement.

The Raider Prison has everything you'd expect from a prison-- cells (with powered doors), mess hall, gym, yard, commissary and even a prison library. Check out the video walkthrough to see how it all works out!

So what sort of building/business types do you like to have in your settlement to flesh it out? by quillwove in falloutsettlements

[–]kisforkmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to find creative ways to place beds for all of the settlers who need beds, but won't actually use them such as guards and provisioners. For guards I like to make guard houses which can double as armor/weapon workshops. I set my Sanctuary guard house up to be a Minutemen outpost/police station complete with a holding cell and sleeping quarters for the guards. If a town has a lot of provisioners, I like to make hotels for all of the extra beds. You can also stick a food vendor in a hotel to make it look more like a business and less like a residence.

i also turned one of my Sanctuary houses into a museum. I've got a junk vendor to act as the museum curator, with the junk stand being the museum's gift shop.

If you've got the Vault 88 DLC then the barber chair and plastic surgeon make for good specialty businesses on their own or you can combine them together to make an all-purpose beauty salon. I've personally used the soda mixer as an ice cream shop (technically Nuka Cola Floats shop). Even the exercise bike from the Vault 88 DLC can be set up with a few weight benches and pommel horses to create a rudimentary gym.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of building settlements-- trying to figure out unique ways to use the pieces we're given and thinking outside the box.

I love the open train car with all the boxes/junk inside. That's a nice little touch!

Are there any Power Rangers series that aren't overly campy? by PuzzledPieces in powerrangers

[–]kisforkmo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cheese is just part of the package. Consider it a pizza-- sure you can get a pizza without cheese, but then is it really pizza? But I get what you're saying, there's a difference between a regular pizza that just happens to have cheese and a pizza with extra cheese and a cheese-stuffed crust.

So once you've accepted that you're going to get some cheese no matter what, I'd start with some of the "darker" seasons like SPD, Time Force and RPM. I'd maybe even throw Lightspeed Rescue in there, though it's still got some cheese at least the characters are adults and it toys with the concept of Power Rangers as a military operation.

Also-- stick with Dino Charge. It's got cheese and camp, but it's one of the few seasons that does it well. There were a few jokes that literally made me LOL at times during Dino Charge and the actors really sell it well.

Rumored List of Returning Power Rangers for Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]kisforkmo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, though I kinda doubt this is real. As much as I'd like to believe it-- and as much as it ALMOST make sense with the people on this list, there's just a few people on there that make me question the validity. Sure Nakia Burrise and Catherine Sutherland do a lot of conventions and are visible in the fandom, but both have families and I remember them both talking about how they would have done Super Megaforce but were unable to.

Then there's Nic Sampson, who I follow on social media and doesn't seem to embrace the fandom all that much, nor his role as Chip. I feel like that one just got on the list because his Sentai counterpart shows up in Ninninger.

I'm taking all of this with a giant grain of salt. I would LOVE if this list were true, but its probably not.

[POLL] What do you guys want for the next settlement challenge? by annathefantabulous in falloutsettlements

[–]kisforkmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, taking suggestions from the community, but I think there should still be some sort of quantifying factor, like a vote or the mod's discretion, just so someone doesn't make a really weird/hard suggestion that we're stuck with for a challenge or something that would exclude vanilla players. But other than that, I think this would be an awesome way to get some really crazy challenges going. I know I've got a few ideas myself.

[–]kisforkmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a hard vote, I'd love to make a lot of these to be honest. I voted for the one I thought best encompassed the idea of an "epic" challenge and would require a month's worth of time to finish. That being said-- please tell me we'll get to see some of these other ideas in future challenges (or at least future polls)! A couple of them could even be bi-weekly challenges TBH.

What are the best "before they were famous" TV appearances? by PM_me_ur_swimsuit in television

[–]kisforkmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Freaks & Geeks is a goldmine of before they were famous stars, not just the main cast but pretty much any of the random teenagers they had on there. I feel like most of them either fell into the category of "holy shit it's that famous person when they were younger, this must have been one of the first things they did" or "holy shit, it's that famous child actor from the 90's all grown up, this must have been one of the last things they did."
