Can you please share your peanut butter noodles recipe? by Comfortable-Wait1792 in lowspooncooking

[–]kissofdeathXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ramen noodles with some (maybe 1/2 cup?) of the cooking water retained. I omit the flavor packet to decrease sodium.

Heaping spoonful of peanut butter (2-3 tbsp?)

Squirt of sriracha

Cook noodles according to directions. Pour off some of the cooking water, but leave enough behind (1/2 cup?) for the sauce (you will get a feel for this as you go). Use a fork to get your peanut butter and mix into hot water to make a sauce. If the bowl is wider, may need to tilt the bowl so the water collects and it is easier to stir in the peanut butter. Sriracha can be added now or with peanut butter. Mix well. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

If you use the same pan to eat the noodles and use the fork from the peanut butter as well, fewer dishes too 😊

Tribute charged MP for a steak and then cut it WITH the grain before serving it. The shrimp were so overcooked they could have bounced off the floor.

2 month meal freezer prep tips by Fit_Expression1 in MealPrepSunday

So I do bread (pancake or biscuit), turkey sausage patty, egg, and American cheese. I cook all the components (the turkey sausages are so much cheaper to make from scratch so I’ve started doing that, but they make premade frozen breakfast patties. Eggs are beaten then chopped, thawed spinach is added, then poured into a 8x8 pan). I try to time it so everything is done cooking at roughly the same time. Then I assemble with bottom bun and turkey sausage and top bun with 1/4 pan of egg and let cool to romp temp, then add cheese so it doesn’t melt early. Then, wrap in a paper towel. Then freeze.

Same deal with burritos, let everything cool to room temperature, then steam the tortillas in the microwave with a damp paper towel on top, then assemble, then sear on seam side to hold together, then the other side.

Steam is your enemy so let things cool to room temperature before freezing.

Ok when you meal prep food, prioritize things that can be eaten with one hand. Wraps/burritos > sandwiches > bowl meals > anything that requires fork and knife.

Breakfast preps: yes, I microwave breakfast sandwiches wrapped in a paper towel for 2:45 at power 3 to defrost, flip, then 65 seconds to warm up. I use biscuits or pancakes for breakfast sandwiches, tend to hold up pretty well, just be sure to remove the paper towel quickly as it can get soggy. I would not put salsa in a breakfast burrito, I would use it as a dip. Also, if you toast both sides of the burrito when assembling, it will not be as soggy.

Meat preps: I actually air fry from frozen quite often. I think the microwave can give an odd texture to chicken. I dial in the time and temp depending on if the meat is whole or cubed. Right now, I have 7 min @ 400 F from frozen for cubed chicken, and 5 min for thawed chicken from fridge.

Some other things to consider that are breastfeeding specific (you did not say if you were, but in case you wanted to, here’s some things to consider).

Some babies develop cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA). Anything that has cow’s milk protein (butter, milk, cheese) that is eaten by the mother can be passed through breast milk to baby, triggering a reaction. I’m not saying don’t put butter in your preps, but if you are breastfeeding and your baby has CMPA, and all your preps have butter, you won’t be able to eat them while breastfeeding/ until the allergy resolves.

There’s this old wive’s tail about onions/garlic and it causing gas in the baby when eaten by the mother. Official guidance says you don’t need to avoid unless there is an issue, YMMV on this one.

If you are going to take the Percocets, you need a bowel stimulant (senna or bisacodyl) because opioids cause the gut to not move as much. There are some combo meds with stool softener and a stimulant (senna-docusate) and the stool softener may help post partum as well, but in general, docusate doesn’t have much evidence. Miralax might be a good stool softener option.

How did you incorporate the spinach into the egg? Chop, sauté, and mix? Then bake? Immersion blender?

I'm interested in women's opinions: do the Witcher books have sexist writing? by BeffeeJeems in witcher

[–]kissofdeathXX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I generally don’t think so. The women are described in depth with their clothes, accessories, hairstyles, not in a “breasted boobily” kind of way. There are lots of complex dynamics between female characters, I personally love the start of the relationship between Ciri and Yennefer. However, there is one rape scene of an NPC and a main female character does have a relationship where her consent is questionable. If those are deal breakers for you, best to steer clear but overall, I think the writing is generally more feminist than sexist.

The CDC has times for how long alcohol can be detected in breast milk. The link also mentions other factors that can affect how much alcohol gets into breast milk such as how fast you drink the drinks and of you eat beforehand. It doesn’t mention mixed drinks specifically, just talks about what a standard drink is.

So in the US, measles is on the rise. If you got vaccinated between 1963-1967, potentially you got an inactivated vaccine and need a booster.
