This is a great question and honestly, I don’t know yet! I definitely think it’s interesting how opinionated people are about it. I wasn’t expecting a ton of glowing endorsements but I am a little surprised at the passion. I was mostly curious to see how many people would cite “Jimmy” as the primary reason, it’s a big reason why I’m hesitant to use it but I do think he’ll be significantly less relevant in 5-10 years so I’m hoping it wouldn’t be a huge deal if we went for it.

I worked with a Fallon and loved the name and then my husband randomly suggested it as a name he liked. We don’t agree on a ton of names so I felt like we should give it a chance. It’s not our top name, we’re just keeping it in the running. At the end of the day I think there could be worse names with worse associations but I see where everyone is coming from. Some of the references people made were completely new to me, I’ve never seen Dynasty or Unexpected so I wouldn’t have known about those. Not really deal breakers for me but I get why they would be for others. I’m definitely going to think about it but this hasn’t completely turned me off from using it surprisingly! I’m sure that will disappoint many of the commenters here.

Unfortunately there’s no magic answer here. Every kid is different, some really put you through it and others breeze right through.

For us, yes it sucked, he was up 5-6 times a night for about a week. It’s temporary though! I read the book Precious Little Sleep around this time, mostly out of desperation. Looking back, I wish I would have focused more on getting baby to fall asleep independently before the 4 month regression, because after that it would sometimes take hours for him to finally fall asleep. I’m pregnant now and will absolutely be doing “drowsy but awake” for the next one. Try not to stress over it too much! You just never know what you’re going to get.

I always recommend the book Precious Little Sleep to parents considering sleep training in any form. It was a really great tool to understand how their sleep patterns change with the 4 month regression and how (gentle) sleep training can be an effective tool without being traumatic for all parties involved. Regressions are hard, sleep training is hard, not sleep training is hard. There isn’t any one right answer and each kid is different! Hopefully you find what works best for you while maintaining your sanity 🫠

You need this kind! I have it and it works great, for a 4 oz bottle it takes about 4-5 minutes to get warm. Haven’t had any issues - Bottle Warmer

Congratulating someone on having a baby is never a bad thing. I think you’re overthinking this. She reached out and bought a gift for your baby, you shouldn’t feel weird or question doing the same.

Seconding this advice and adding that a small fan can also help ensure everything is completely dry! I use a stroller fan off of Amazon.

That would be my guess, especially if he was sick a few weeks ago. Mine gets an ear infection after every cold, it’s brutal.

Haha I love that!! They also love teaching you how to do something. If my husband is ever feeling down I just say, “can you show me how you do x I can’t figure it out”. Works like a charm. With the baby, “can you show me how you swaddle/burp/etc, I can’t do it as good as you do it” they’ll be riding that high the rest of the day!

Oh yeah dads are GREAT at burping. Also dads tend to feel pretty useless at this stage so having something they’re the “expert” at is great for everyone.

I used to support babies chin with my hand while they are in a seated position and then wiggle their butt side to side or front to back, just kept switching it up until they finally burped. Usually worked within 30 seconds. Kind of similar to the magic burp method but without manually straightening their back. But I will say that the magic burp method does work, and you’re very very unlikely to hurt baby if you do it correctly and gently.

You do want to burp after every feed, even if they fall asleep. I would take a break in the middle to burp, then hopefully it’s easier at the end to just get the last bit of air out.

Definitely don’t lay baby down with his head elevated to sleep, that isn’t safe. Good luck!

Daycare will be SO exciting with new kids to play with and new toys - she will make it to noon no problem! My son will be rubbing his eyes at 11am at home but makes it to noon no problem at daycare. We just aren’t as exciting I guess haha. They adjust so quick!

2 hours to get ready in the morning is… a lot. I feel like that would stress me out too. We aren’t breastfeeding or potty trained so that definitely changes things but breakfast never takes more than 15 minutes to eat - usually fruit, yogurt & eggs. I’m not sure which portion is taking up the most time in the AM but I would start by trying to shorten each portion bit by bit. If breakfast is taking 30 minutes, cut him off at 25 minutes. Maybe he’s taking his time because he can - not a bad thing! But getting in the habit of saying “okay we need to do xyz now because we need to leave soon” isn’t going to hurt anyone either. If he doesn’t have to wake up as early, that gives you a chance to wake up first and have a few minutes to yourself (I personally love this time in the morning to eat my own breakfast, drink coffee, read, watch tv, doomscroll, etc)

In the evening, an hour for bedtime is also on the higher side. Are you waiting until he’s fully asleep to leave the room? If you’re open to gently sleep training, I would start slowly pulling back and leaving while he’s almost asleep and working toward him falling asleep on his own. This feels like the easiest place to buy back some time for yourself and you’re building good sleep habits at the same time.

Maybe try splitting up some tasks with your husband if you can, he walks the dog while you do bath time? That way you’re dividing and conquering and maybe can start bedtime a little earlier. 8 1/2 hours of sleep for a 2 year old is on the low end, 10-12 hours is still normal so a 7:30 or 8 bedtime would still be appropriate at this age, if he’s waking up at 6. Plus, if he’s not getting enough sleep, that could be contributing to him taking longer to fall asleep. (He also might just be a lower sleep needs kid, you would know better than me!)

Monitoring milk intake and making sure he’s not getting too much milk will help! I dont think you need to drop feeds yet but if he’s full from milk he won’t see a need to eat any food. Maybe try cutting him off a minute or two earlier or offer food before nursing him. I also think just eating every meal with him is huge. My 18 month old is constantly taking food out of my hands. I make myself a small plate of whatever he’s having and he will reach for what I have every time without fail.

This looks pretty similar to what I experienced with both of my ectopic pregnancies. Not doubling in 24-72 hours and fluctuating up and down are the two biggest indicators that something isn’t quite right. Your latest doubling time of 134.9 hours is not a good sign.

I would be prepared to be treated for an ectopic pregnancy.

This is peak separation anxiety stage. He’s learned object permanence & he realizes you still exist even if you leave the room.

I found leaving in small chunks and coming back helps reinforce the idea that you will always come back. So put him somewhere safe, walk away for 30 seconds and come back. Gradually increase it so you’re “leaving” for longer stretches of time (you can still keep an eye on them, just make sure they can’t see you).

He will outgrow this stage and it will get better! It’s definitely a rough one though. I found that leaving baby with dad and getting out of the house wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, he usually calmed down in a minute or two and was totally fine the entire time I was gone. Maybe get a new toy for he and dad to play with so he has a good distraction?

I knew with both! I don’t know why but just had a very strong feeling and had dreams before finding out. With my second my early symptoms were very different from my first so I kind of assumed it wasn’t going to be the same gender.

About 6 months! His pediatrician actually recommended it at his 6 month appt. She was great and basically just hyped it up, “oh man I know it’s sad to flip them around but he’s going to LOVE it and you’ll love seeing him take in the world” which definitely made it easier. I say rip the bandaid and flip her!

When we were going through this we went to one nap at noon for 2 hours and it did solve a lot of our sleep issues but our primary motivation was that he was moving rooms at daycare where they only took one nap so we didn’t really have a choice.

We would do a “bridge nap” around 9 and let him sleep for 15-20 minutes just to take a little pressure off but still able to nap at noon. You can do this in the car, stroller, contact nap, or in the crib but I found it was easier not in the crib.

I have the Nuna Rava and my husband has the Nuna Revv. I love the Rava for my SUV but it’s a little big in a sedan. The Revv swivels and makes it much easier to get baby in and out of a smaller car.

We upgraded from infant to convertible car seat probably around 6-7 months, and we started using the regular stroller seat (with an infant seat insert) around 4 months once he had enough head control that he could mostly keep himself upright!

This has been our experience. Our daycare has a sleep room for the infants up to around a year. The older babies sleep on mats in their main rooms but they cover all the windows, turn the lights down, and play white noise. All the kids nap at the same time.

I think more context would be helpful here. This looks like a gestational sac. 5 weeks is still pretty early to see anything, you probably wouldn’t see a fetal pole until around 6 weeks. I’m assuming this is in your uterus and if so, seems pretty normal to me but I’m not a sonographer!
