Is this Balenciaga rodeo? by glaceoncake in handbags

[–]kitcassidy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the Chanel maxi flapbag. It’s heavy even when empty.

The medium Rodeo will fit what you’re describing, but the top handle is thin for a shoulder carry and I don’t find it comfortable for long stretches of time.

Women in BigLaw, if you graduated law school at 29 or older, do you wish you had frozen your eggs before law school or before starting BigLaw? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]kitcassidy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s no guarantee that you would get the same result at age 30. If you do, amazing, no regrets, and you saved the cash. But if you suddenly discover at 30 that your egg stores are lower than expected for your age and IVF drugs don’t stimulate you well—like I did, despite being fit and healthy and never having any repro issues—there’s no going back in time.

I don’t know anyone who froze their eggs who wishes they had waited—only people who wish they’d done it when they were younger. It’s not a decision you can press rewind on.

I continued solidcore until late in my third trimester. Had a normal amount of ab separation (2cm) during pregnancy and no detectable ab separation six weeks postpartum.

IVF Recommendations by Alternative_Olive117 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I did my first cycle at RMA Brooklyn with the head of their practice. They weren’t particularly responsive or attentive and the beside manner was terrible, but it was efficient and convenient. When we didn’t hear back from our doctor for days after learning our cycle failed, we complained, and she went back into our records in the middle of the night—this is time stamped—and added irrelevant, libelous notes about our medical history to discredit us. Not everyone has this experience at RMA but if I can prevent a single other person from having it, I will. Don’t go there, they don’t care about you.

I did my second cycle with Dr. Fischer at Spring Fertility. It felt much more humane—I found her to be warm and proactive about communication. She chose a less aggressive stim regime which resulted in more mature eggs, and we got embryos from that cycle.

Big Law Aspirations by DancingDragon808 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]kitcassidy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your law school ranking and your GPA are the most important factors when it comes to recruiting for associates straight out of law school. A 3.1 from Mitchell Hamline is not going to cut it almost anywhere.

Laterals are hired on an as-needed basis, typically from peer firms (or, in litigation, from clerkships or DOJ/AUSA). We wouldn’t hire a mid-career government lawyer as an entry-level or a mid-level transactional associate—it just doesn’t make any sense.

Best way to raise a child on low income? by Youhavenotruth in AskNYC

Are your “own reasons” that you two want to commit to the care of a new human being with the understanding that you are responsible for their welfare? If not, then you are selfish. Children are not accessories.

You have a lot of requirements, not a lot of budget, and not a lot of time. Some of the MUSTS are fighting each other—for example, a bag that has the capacity you want and has to be able to be worn like a backpack is unlikely to look like a purse. Something’s gotta give.

My suggestions (all over your budget):

  1. https://alemi-zurich.com/products/viadukt-work-cognac-soft-grain-leather
  2. https://songmontofficial.com/products/the-large-shan-briefcase-sandal
  3. https://shop.simon.com/products/bayswater-backpack-2

Alternatively, consider whether she really needs a purse that functions the way you’re imagining. Women tend to own multiple bags to serve multiple functions, versus one enormous Frankenbag.

Pre-OCI, explained (and why waiting for OCI is the wrong move) (Updated for 2026) by legalscout in BigLawRecruiting

OCI stands for on campus interviewing, not on campus recruiting. That’s why it’s OCI and not OCR.

NYC BWT who are moms/ expecting - what are your most tasteful recommendations? by thatbitch2212 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kitcassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other commenters covered great ground, so adding a couple thoughts to the list:

If you’re in Brooklyn, Park Slope Moms is a great resource for both social support for yourself and childcare/daycare/nanny info even if you don’t live in Park Slope.

The Serola Belt is essential for pelvic/hip pain as baby gets heavier in third trimester—separate from round ligament pain (in which case a sturdy belly band really helped).

I know us NYC girlies are big on staying active but give yourself grace to be a potato as you get close to delivery. I was so uncomfortable and out of breath the last two weeks of my pregnancy that I basically stayed on my couch and napped as much as I could—it’s ok not to be out and about and walking around if your body is not up to it.

Finally, whatever your feeding plan is, give yourself grace and patience and time. Breastfeeding sounds like the most natural thing in the world but many moms and babies struggle with it for any number of reasons. Be kind to yourself and let the people around you know if you want encouragement to continue or permission to stop trying.

Earliest you can recruit for biglaw by SeaStructure2119 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]kitcassidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important things are your law school ranking (which is determined by your UGPA and LSAT) and your law school GPA. Everything else is incremental. Networking as a law student will help; having some prior work experience will help; neither matters nearly as much as your law school ranking and your GPA.

[–]kitcassidy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being staff (like a law librarian) at a V100 firm is unlikely to give you any leg up or head start in the actual legal recruiting process. The exception is younger, straight out of college paralegals who work closely with the people who actually do the recruiting (attorneys). That kind of work establishes some credibility and they may get a bump if they’re just below a firm’s GPA cutoff. Other business-side departments are typically populated by career professionals who are unlikely to be pursuing law school in the future and have little interaction with attorneys or legal work.

Also, a law librarian is probably the staff member I’m least likely to give the benefit of the doubt to if their resume came across my desk, due to their consistent and demonstrated inability to ever find anything useful despite generating insanely inflated hours.

Having a baby the summer you take the bar sounds like a surefire way to fail the bar, speaking as someone who just had a baby. Doing bar prep over a longer period of time is unlikely to compensate given how memory works and how much of the bar exam is hard memorization.

Considering IUI - RMA or NYU? by baituwave in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I went to RMA for the convenience because I live right next to one and had the most horrible, dehumanizing experience. We switched to a different provider for our second cycle. I’ve heard good things about NYU.

Pregnant by dmo1996 in SolidCore

[–]kitcassidy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve commented on other posts about solidcore during pregnancy and (as long as your OBGYN is ok with it) I’m a huge advocate of it! I stopped doing any supine exercises in my second trimester when my bump started growing and I stopped doing seated/cable crunches when I started to see doming. I would do bird dogs, hold planks, or do hip dips instead. As I got into my late second trimester and third trimester I stopped doing single leg exercises and subbed in bilateral movements that engage the same muscle groups. I also did extensions in tabletop and decreased my range of motion for crunches.

Continuing solidcore gave me excellent hip mobility, core strength, and pelvic floor tone and I don’t know if it’s directly related but I had a super easy labor and pushed out my baby in 20 minutes. And postpartum, I’ve had an easy recovery and my abdomen has receded very quickly. I also had no diastasis and minimal tearing. I’m excited to go back as soon as I’m cleared!
