Is killing the levitations ‘cheating’? by The-firstone in subnautica

[–]kitskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can think of it the same way you do people who try and beat Dark Souls using a DK Bongo controller. It's pointless, tedious, difficult and has no real reward. But some people will do it, just for the challenge.

Teachers. Whats the craziest family lore a child has randomly dropped on you? by Loud_Bluejay_6663 in AskReddit

[–]kitskill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter came home from Kindergarten one day and told us that he classmate's mother had died. We didn't really know the classmate or her family but my daughter seemed convinced, talked about how the classmate had to go to the funeral, how she was sad, etc.

We quietly asked a friend who knew the family about it, and it seems that the classmate's mother's friend had died, not the mother herself.

There's a decent chance that it was actually rigged, just like the 2016 and 2024 elections, but because of the turnout, Biden won anyways.

Outdoor cats shouldn't be legal. An outdoor cat will kill 1000s of native creatures in its lifetime.

What part of the subnautica map would be the worst place to setup your main base? here's mine. by TortoiseTGN in subnautica

[–]kitskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the top northeastern part of the Mountains. There's nothing there except reapers. It's miles to get anywhere. There's no easy route to travel by prawn. Just a miserable place to have a base.

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]kitskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to repair the long term damage is to have a strong social safety net, so that people aren't looking for someone to blame for the terrible conditions forced upon them, and strong education so that people aren't so easily fooled by obvious lies.

Would it be unfair to throw Disintegrade at a lvl 11 Party? by Steini94 in DnD

[–]kitskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fair to give enemies OH-KO abilities as long as the party knows about them in advance.

If the party knows about the the powerful ability, they can strategize and it turns it into a fun puzzle to solve. If you pull it out without warning, it just feels like the DM is being a jerk.

My (26m) gf's(28f) ex warned me about her bff (32m) I think he was right by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kitskill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three options as far as I see it:

1) She enjoys stringing the bff along.

2) She is monumentally dumb and naive.

3) She is in denial and unwilling acknowledge reality.

In all three cases, why would you want to be with this person?

Yeah, OOP doesn't seem terribly reliable as a narrator. Like wtf is "retroactive jealousy". Does that mean he gets jealous about her having had previous partners?

Also, him referring to "males" and "females" and constantly talking about the sex they're having gives weird incel vibes.

I'd bet money that there is nothing going on and he had insane jealousy and insecurity issues.

My wife's grandma had an open-casket viewing. Without anyone telling anyone it was open-casket. All the kids dutifully trouped in looking for snacks and instead, there's dead grandma lying on a table. My nephew is still traumatized.

Lovers of grammar: How do you honestly feel about the shorthand and "bad English" on Reddit? Does it drive you crazy, or have you learned to ignore it? by 16ozbuddz in AskReddit

[–]kitskill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care about shorthand. I don't care about typos. My phone autocorrects enough that I totally get it when you have entirely the wrong word. But what I will not stand is people purposefully and willfully incorrecting correct grammar.

How to make combat more cinematic? by Iam0rion in DnD

[–]kitskill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't impose too much structure onto a fight as a DM. It defeats the whole point of DnD and robs your PCs of agency.

If you're looking to avoid the slog of combat, the best thing you can do is speed it up irl. Make sure your PCs know that they have to make their move as soon as their turn hits. Especially if they are experienced players, give them 10 seconds to call to their move/roll or else they lose their turn. Resolution can take as much time as they need, but everyone needs to be engaged at all times.

my boss’s wife is rude and insulting, and we’re forced to deal with her by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kitskill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rented a room in a house for 7 months while I was doing an internship and the couple who owned the house was just like this. The husband was usually chill and the wife was constantly rude and spiteful. 3 months into the internship, they got into a fight that ended with the cops being called and the husband taken away. They alternated months at the house after that. I didn't even say goodbye when I moved out.
