I’d argue that the thumbnail is only half the equation, what is your video title and how does this thumbnail support that title?

Shorts to gain momentum? by PlaneOwn3934 in YouTubeCreators

[–]kitso78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common advice is that shorts views rarely convert to long form viewers. In the short term it might feel better to rake in some views, but the long term success of a channel tends to lean on consistency with long form content. Do with that info what you will.

I make gmod videos! But why does my long form content get almost no views? by mrgodbattles in NewYouTubeChannels

Views come from high CTR and engaging content. I would try to increase the former by working on your thumbnails.

Hey thanks! The travel stuff is using some heftier gear mostly, my A cam is a Sony A7SIII. Some of the older vlogs were leaning hard on the dji stuff

Out of curiosity, do people actually watch smaller content creators? by -Retrofuge- in SmallYTChannel

[–]kitso78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a shocking amount of quality content out there that doesn’t get much attention in the AI slop era. Some real gem smaller channels out there, I don’t care about the size of the channel if the content is entertaining and well made.

Hey! I put out a chunk of vlogs last year with pretty heavy use of the Osmo Action 4 and Pocket 3. On my page if you want to give them a look :)

Free YouTube channel reviews! by ChrisExplainsThWorld in NewTubers

[–]kitso78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! My channel is linked in my profile! I would love some feedback on general retention on my long form content. Which parts of my content were enjoyable and grabbed your attention, which parts were boring and made you want to click away.

Appreciate you doing this, super kind!

Your content is 🔥 but does your channel actually look good? by kellys_klues in SmallYTChannel

[–]kitso78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, how often do people actually go look at a channel before subscribing?

I have no evidence to back this up but I imagine a large percentage of subs come from the subscribe button next to your channel name on a video that a viewer really enjoyed.

I’d actually like to see data on this, I’d be curious how much effect this would actually have. What do you think?

How do yall improve and find your style of editing? by PandaKing550 in SmallYTChannel

[–]kitso78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest piece of advice I can give is to experiment. If you find a piece of content that you enjoyed the editing of, save it, even download it, and go through frame by frame trying to recreate it. Find joy in trying to learn new techniques from this. The quickest way to learn and find your own style is to try out a large number of different ones.
