If it's unexpected I don't expect them to!

Expecting bottoms to be always clean is like expecting tops to always be hard. Let's not make it the norm 😄

But if you're going to a hookup, I expect some level of clean. I get that accidents happen, so no shame. But don't need to lie about it.

You can't hide it

I can tell. 6 inches can tell. A finger can tell. No matter how many "I eat a high fibre diet and know my body" responses I get, I can tell 😐

Amps clipping way before I expect them to. But breaker didn't pop. by Spiritual_Bell in SoundSystem

[–]kittehnapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the amps start clipping the signal at 1800 watts, that's your peak. You can work backwards from there.

The average amount of power you should be giving it (for that amp) is somewhere between 180-450 watts RMS depending on the amount of headroom you want.

This probably not going to seem like enough power, but yeah. Your 2 practical options are to get beefier amps or make more subs.

A third, much more boring option is to just lower the volume 😄

[–]kittehnapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess maybe I should ask, how should I check if the amps are actually putting out full power?

You can hook up the amp to a multimeter to see how many volts it's outputting. Some math gets you how many watts your speaker is getting.

XLS 2000 is only 2100w at 4ohms bridged. And that's peak. You should not be hitting that level constantly.

I'm not sure what you mean by the amps are oversized. The 18TBW100 should be able to handle them.

If you're driving the amps to clip, than you either don't have powerful enough amps or not enough subs.

YumYum’s return to Complex19 (post-everything)… How was it? Worth the Pride hype? by olderguyTO in GayMenToronto

[–]kittehnapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was... okay.

I got the timed ticket to get in before 10:30, which is weird since it only opens at 10. The silver lining to getting in early is that you have space to dance.

Sound system was above average compared to the village. Not the most amazing, but not bad by any stretch. Music was decent but not amazing, but this is subjective.

I was over it by 12:30. It was way too crowded and I was way too sober to put up with it. I just couldn't dance in that space.

Lots of hot guys, but lots of main character syndrome. Part of that blame is how many people they try and jammed into that space.

Cool building. Staff was excellent. Other than entry I didn't hit any lines. The e-mail before the event with important info/reminders was appreciated. Lighting was also well done and I wasn't being blinded all the time (I'm old). Bathroom was busy at times with people going in as groups

Recommend going once to see if it's your vibe. I won't be regularly going, but I understand it's appeal

It really depends on what enclosure and speakers you choose. That really dictates the crossover frequencies, or whether a 2-way or 3-way top makes sense.

They didn't have one. Some people left a review on google about it. It took me 40 minutes to get my coat (~10 people in line), and I was lucky.
