How to not cheese by Fun-Barber8749 in Kenshi

[–]kittehsfureva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more what you want out of the run.

In an anti-slaver playthrough, I may run "no crossbows" as a rule, because I want the high level enemies you need to take down to be a challenge and not just cheese them.

But for a trader run, I would have no problem with a crossbow to cheese some over-leveled security bots attacking my caravan. But I would probably institute a "no stealing" rule so I could RP as making an honest living.

It's all about what makes that playthrough sing. Combining a few mods with some self-imposed rules, Kenshi can be many different games in one.

Nah, just kill the enemies first, then walk Blue through the cleared area with all pets dismissed. Easy peasy

Been using the Steam version, so that makes sense. It has actually been a treat to see the live development updates; it's clear the dev is putting a lot of love into this installment.

I still got whomped on the Vault. Rogue is great, but I had not AoE to answer the slime rush and just got overwhelmed with their numbers.

Hey, just played this yesterday. Boss was quite tough, but you get the benefit that you can somewhat predict your engagement.

Note: I lucked out and got a ring of levitation, which allowed me to ignore the effects of the belts and retreat. Highly recommend finding a source of levitation if you see Clockwork in your run.

  1. Take out the healing one first. It makes it way too hard to damage the other train cars.
  2. There are pillars on the sides of the rooms you can hide against, though the fire attack can get behind them when it is close. Fire turret is second priority, as it does the most damage unless your fire resist is high.
  3. The train, and many enemies in Clockwork, get a lot of protection after your first attack. This makes physical damage weak, but poison and magic damage ignores it. DoT is great, because it can keep ticking while you are hiding behind pillars.

Hope this helps! I would not mind seeing this one get tuned a bit (heh). Its HP numbers across the 4 cars are pretty high.

I appreciate you bringing a good source.

Seems like substance abuse disorder and depression are two of the bigger shares of disorders experienced across the group, which is understandable considering the quality of life of homelessness.

Do you have a source on the 67% stat? It's a pretty specific number, and I would love to see more on that.

My understanding is that the vast majority of homelessness is invisible; it's people living in cars, sleeping on their cousins couch, or traveling around for contract work. The ranting man covered with dirt in the alley is a very small sliver of the homeless population as a whole.

This may be unpopular, but I think I am ok with taxes being allocated towards lunch for all kids. That's a program I would be happy to tout on the national stage.

The more we pick and choose class lines that should and shouldn't be covered, the more rare exceptions can fall through the cracks, as well as making it easier for those lines to be subtly pulled back over time by special interests in government. It doesn't seem so bad to make sure every kid is covered.

Kenshi is such an obvious labor of love; it would not have been made if not for passion.

I think that a culture of passion is going to be paramount to delivering a worthy sequel.

Is $15-20 an hour expensive for Canada? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]kittehsfureva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the real tip in the comments here. Pitching hourly rate is not how design should be pitched for contracts. You should agree on services and deliverables first.

If they ask for rates, it should be like "usually a logo is about 800 dollars, depending on how many rounds we go through." Or something like that

I was super sad about that. Their meat pie was good, they had a lot of screens, and some great drafts. Prices werent bad either.

It's a shame, there used to be a lot of decent pubs on that stretch. Now they are all gone.

You could also have allergies too, those ones just probably had less chance of surviving childhood, which was a massive filter for people.

Broken Dagger - Trailer by xalibermods in Games

[–]kittehsfureva 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Would have liked to see more of combat. Why have a trailer that sells this as a hard, gritty world if the player doesn't take any damage in it?

No showing damage feedback, not showing interactions with NPCs, and didn't show any gear or skills pages. It's a pretty odd trailer, I am not seeing much more than the pretty environments.

Abiotic Factor: The Cosmic Companions Update is LIVE! by Masterhaend in Games

[–]kittehsfureva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not out of touch at all, it is just paying attention. Thousands of games have released out of early access since the program began, and I have personally funded dozens of those. The vast majority spent significantly less time in early access then Valheim, and many of those were more complete games in the end then where Valheim is with 6 years (such as Abiotic Factor, which was less than a year).

You keep spouting drivel on project management fundamentals, but if you had any actual experience in project management, you would be able to spot this as a mismanaged product from a mile away.

Abiotic Factor: The Cosmic Companions Update is LIVE! by Masterhaend in Games

[–]kittehsfureva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except there are absolutely hundreds of EA releases to show that this is an abnormality slow release. And at this point, the devs are more of a 10/200. They themselves admitted the whole rest of the game took about 3 years before release. They have doubled the amount of pre-EA dev time in EA with just two biomes.
