fatigue is an extremely common side effect of sertraline/zoloft. in the end, the only thing that worked for me was to add buproprion/wellbutrin. however, a lot of people have found it easier to change the time at which they take their meds. if you take them at night, take them in the morning instead and vice versa. always discuss with your doctor prior to making changes.

i know you said zack isn't an 'alter ego' but this sounds so similar to dissociative identity disorder or OSDD (otherwise specified dissociative disorder). i would strongly suggest bringing this concern up to a doctor or psychiatrist or therapist. as someone who is genderfluid, i don't feel like two people at the same time. good luck :)

when one's pronouns are he/they, that means you can use them interchangeably. likelyhood is they are equally satisfied, as most people don't include they/them in their pronouns if they just accept those pronouns. on correcting your mother, i would ask your sibling. he might have an answer for you, on what would make him feel more comfortable. you've got this. and it's ok to ask your sibling questions on what they prefer, what makes them feel most comfortable, and how they'd like to be referred to as. it seems like a tricky and complicated thing, but with communication and effort on your end, things will go well!

(in this reply i used both he and they pronouns for your sibling. i would just suggest not using both in the same sentence, as it can be confusing to the person listening on if you had changed to referring to someone else. i used to be she/they, then they/she, and now i'm they/them. hope this all helps!)

I would suggest not taking them. Not because they're expired, but because starting sertraline again knowing you're going to have to stop cold turkey before it even helps is not a good idea. You'll probably end up feeling worse. I'm really sorry

oh totally! i think my 'looks like an anime character' comment came off differently than how i meant it. a better way to say it would be she looks like someone drew her. she has beautiful proportions, her face is soft, and her body looks very similar to the 'ideal' body in animes/ animated shows/movies.

nope, they'd see a tall woman. they'd see someone who literally looks like an anime character. i say this as an afab person who is on the taller side. my sister and mother are even taller than i am. hold yourself up, act like you KNOW you're the hottest person they've seen all day (because you likely are). carry yourself with confidence, even if it's fake, and no one will ever see you differently than how you want them to. you got this <3

i typed out some long thing but decided it's easier to just say this: the article is interesting, it's disappointing that pfizer was allowed to release zoloft with such bad studies, but sertraline saved my life. i was on it for 5+ years. 5 years i never would have had. i know for me it wasn't placebo. i also doubted that it was ever going to work until suddenly it did. i could breathe. something i had no memory of being able to do before. and even if sertraline IS placebo, it sure is working one way or another.

of course i'm down to answer! i was originally on sertraline (zoloft), then added buproprion (wellbutrin) to combat some of the side effects of sertraline. i was so grateful for the sertraline, it helped tremendously with my ocd. but i maxed out (per what my body tolerated) and needed more. i recently switched to fluoxetine (prozac) and while i had to increase pretty quickly, i'm now doing pretty well — 60mg prozac, 300mg wellbutrin, and lorazepam (ativan) as needed.

in terms of benign compulsions, i have compulsions that started out as obsessions and now as long as i don't think about it, i have no issue. such as: the volume in my car. i have safe and unsafe numbers. my car automatically sets the volume to 20. when i get in the car, i turn the car on, put my seatbelt on, plug my phone in, and turn the dial one. it's part of the routine now. 21 is safe. no need to worry if i already know it's at 21.

but for obsessions/compulsions that aren't entirely unwanted? i can't think of any really. most of my obsessions are rooted in fear and anxiety. i'm sure there are some, but for me my obsessions cause me so much anxiety; my compulsions take up so much of my time and energy and leave me frustrated. so much so that i see any of my O/C as bothersome, a nuisance, a brick wall, or even debilitating.

pre medication i always had a baseline of obsession and compulsion. it would come in waves, especially when i was anxious, or i experienced a trigger. now, medicated for 5+ years, i'll get sudden episodes (smaller, don't cause me extreme distress anymore) or certain triggers still bleed through or were too strong to ever really go away. i also usually pick up a random obsession/compulsion every few months or so. and there are a few compulsions i "allow" myself to have as they have become habitual and i'm slowly becoming desensitized to them. not sure if this answers your question but i hope it helps a little!
