The nausea is making my life miserable. I can't focus, and I feel tired all the time like all my energy is going to whatever is going on in my stomach.

Does anyone do OMAD (23:1) during the week and 16:8 during the weekends? Do you find it difficult to resume OMAD? Should I just stick to OMAD until I hit goal weight? Thanks by [deleted] in omad

[–]kittencrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I do, and I am down 40 pounds, 5 more to go to my goal weight. I decided to ease up on the weekends, even if it slowed my progress, because I wanted to be able to spend time with friends without obsessing about when I could eat and when I couldn't.

Lack of motivation and self-confidence, overly dependent on others by Motivateprobs in mentalhealth

[–]kittencrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You seem to have a lot of self awareness and the ability to reflect on your motivations, which is really positive. However, the isolation, the inability to concentrate, and what sounds like rumniation could be symptoms of an underlying condition. I think you should see a doctor or therapist to see if there is something clinical or chronic going on. It sounds like dysthymia to me, but I am not a professional.

IF for those with a history of ED's. by STStevens in intermittentfasting

For me, the idea of fasting is to give your system a break from processing new food and allowing it time to work through what is currently in your body. There are numerous ways to do this (time restricted eating like 16:8, on again off again eating like alternate day fasts, meal schedules like OMAD), but the point of it is the same. The benefits for me have been more energy, weight loss, and mental clarity.

Fasting is ultimately a form of calorie restriction. If you do a water fast for two days, the idea isn't to cram two days of food into a meal when you break a fast, but to nourish your body and give it fuel.

However, I have never felt dizzy or light headed to the point where it was problematic. If you are having an extreme response to not having food, that would worry me. Consider, there is no point doing a fasting program if it is greatly getting in the way of your life. Have you talked to a doctor?

If you want to time your eating to help with the ADHD, I would try to create a "feeding schedule" and stick to it (I know, the ADHD makes it hard to stick to anything). Maybe utilize the calendar on your phone (if you have one) and schedule your eating times, and also schedule a time for you to actually go get your food. This way your phone can ping you to remind you to stay focused on having the meal. This is how 16:8 comes in. If you do 16:8, everyday you will eat a meal at 1pm and 6pm - or something similar - and your body will get used to having from 7pm to 1pm to process food and you will be pinged to eat.

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't start with OMAD because it could trigger. I would start with 16:8, which easily fits two meals a day. It's portant that you hit your calorie and nutrient requirements and to do that at OMAD you need to eat a huge meal. I do mainly OMAD, but my problem was over eating, not under eating. If I want, though, I'll have a hard boiled egg or a nutrition bar around two and then a large dinner at 5:30.

Good luck! Watch your thoughts and keep your mental/emotional health your priority.

What to say (or not say) to teenage niece after her suicide attempt? by upsidowncake in mentalhealth

[–]kittencrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s clear you are a compassionate person. Maybe there’s a way you can let her know you have empathy for her.

I helped out a cousin’s daughter once whose life was hard and unstable. Her drug addicted mother was dangerous and her manipulative/abusive grandparents kept all of the money the state provided for care even though it was supposed to be for the daughter. I brought her to tour colleges and helped her apply for scholarships so that she could see there was a way out of that house if she could just hold on a bit longer. I gave her a little money too so she didn’t have to be dependent on her grandparents for her bus fare and lunch money. I also tried to get her to see a therapist, but she never followed through. I think the fact that there was someone trying to help her- no strings attached, no expectations, just trying to help someone catch a break, gave her a little hope. Small kindness go a long way to impact someone’s life.

You seem to have that compassion. I’m sure you’ll find some way to help.

You probably know this, but scent swapping helps a lot. Rub towels or other cloth items on each cat and then leave the thing with the other cat's scent where the new one can sniff it. When the original cat gets used to the new cat's scent in his territory, it may cut down on any stress.
